Number 3 for 2008; White, Long and Cooper

After a long, and worthwhile, drive to Atlanta with my good friend Chuck Kerwin I was finally able to see and take delivery of my new John White "Running Fire" Damascus Dagger and Paul Long custom leather sheath.

To say I was pleased would be an understatement. This is truly a knife ( and sheath) that begs to be to be seen and handled in person. The fit, finish, and execution of design of the knife are truly amazing.

John nailed the "Running Fire" Damascus blade. I don't think that have yet to see a prettier or better executed piece of damascus. In fact the knife was voted the award for "Best Damascus" at Blade this year.

I have two more special and different projects in the works with John this year that will be posted to the Forum when completed.

A special thank you to Jim Copper and to Paul Long for putting in the extra effort needed to complete this project in time for Blade. You could not hope to work with finer gentleman and skilled craftsmen than John White,
Paul Long, and Jim Cooper.

Didn't this one win the Best Damascus award for John?

It's a superb piece - that much more so in person. John is one of the very best - and a nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet. Also got to meet Paul Long for the first time (thanks for tracking me down!) and that was an absolute pleasure. Also picket up one of his fine sheaths.

WOW, that is one fine knife. The pictures don't even show how super that knife is and they were great. Paul is right the knife needs to be coon fingered and chicken eyed in person. John White is also a super nice guy and meeting him was part of the great Blade experience.:D:thumbup: Sitting next to him all dinner long at the first Custon Knife Collectors Club dinner was a treat, at least for me.;)

Folks,

Just got back to Florida from maybe the most fun-filled Blade ever for me, enjoying old and new friends, and meeting in person so many of my fellow forumites.

Everything surrounding this (group-effort) Dagger for bgspecialk was a real joy. Paul had had a dagger on order, and when the time came, he asked to make it a three-way collaboration, planning from the start to have Paul Long create a very special sheath, and Coop to produce a similarly special composite image, and present the result both on this forum and at Atlanta.

He gave us all free rein, and the result, while for you to judge, pleased me no end. Working with Paul, Paul, and Coop is a privilege.

To cap it off, this dagger was chosen as Best Damascus Knife, Blade Show 2008.

I love happy endings.

Thanks to all involved, and esPECIALLY to Paul,

John
