Nutnfancy EMERSON SHOT SHOW

Definately a class act.

I'm gonna be in so much trouble. The Gypsy is calling to me.

No one can ever say Emersons are boring.

I hear ya. I just picked up a Gentleman Jim and now the Journeyman is calling me. My wife will have my guts for garters.

Its good to hear the story of the chisel grind straight from the horse's mouth but I still don't get it. IMO its easier to sharpen a knife that's ground on both sides. And if you're spending any length of time in the field you're going to want a benchstone with you. Or a back-up knife. And of the two, the sharpening stone will def be lighter if saving weight is the issue.

Emerson is definitely a genuine class act. Its just too bad that one has to listen to Fancy in the process; that guy is a total douch.

I think nutns the man, why you think he's a d-bag?

Because I think that he is self centered, arrogant and generally full of shit; especially when it comes to knives. I lost all respect for him when I saw his review on the Tom Brown Tracker, a knife that he said that he has never even seen in person. However based on his vast knowledge of knives he ripped it appart. He has said that he isnt a "knife guy", and that is obvios from watching his reviews. During the Emerson interview he had to talk about how thousands of people bought CQC-8's because of his review. Thousands of people buy Emerson knives because they are Emerson Knives. I do not see him doing reviews on other Emerson knives, and they seem to sell just fine. I do not know why he gives a shit about Emerson knives anyways; seeing how he doesnt like or use the wave feature(90% of Emerson knives), and because the vast majority of Emerson knives are over his 4oz load out weight limit( because a 4.5oz knife can really break a MF's back when you are loading out to go to Wal-mart).

I don't agree with everything the guy says, but I agree with a lot of it, and most of his philosophy .I also respect how much of his time and energy he puts into his videos, he actually cares and is passionate about the content. But hey, the great part is that we are all entitled to our own opinions.

TNP has tested many knives. He's military, reserve LEO, and a Utah boy. I have spent a fair amount of time in the field and I have no concerns with his skills. I think he does a good job and I like his dog. His son is hilarious and knows what he's doing.
Emerson-you had me at baseball fan and knife nut. Class act.

The Tops TB Tracker was the most dissapointing knife i ever owned, looks great sure but useless for batoning! I'm going to search for Nutn's video on this and see what he says about it. Be right back...

Nutn's video "Anatomy of hype" was accurate, he was right on point in my opinion. His review on the TB Tracker is to debunk the hollywood fantasy. The Tracker is all about hype and if there ever was a knife that can be armchair criticized, it would be the Tracker. Nutn speaks of the good and bad of the knife and this would hopefully cut thru that hype so that the buyer knows in advance before spending their money. I believe that when Nutn say he's not a knife guy, he means that as in: he wouldnt use a knife as a primary defence tool, he'd prefer a gun and i would agree with that - it was used in decribing the context of the movie he was speaking about - not in meaning that he dosnt like knives.
Nutn's intensions are good and he does this for free. Thanks to Nutn we were able to receive an excellant interview with Emerson and this too was for free and i thank him for that!

Yeah, I wouldn't spend 5 bucks on a tops tracker

Yeah but it's cool, i just count it as part of my learning process... Thanks to guys like Nutnfancy and others that provide me with free reviews and differant opinions, i am able to make better thought-out decisions before buying.

( because a 4.5oz knife can really break a MF's back when you are loading out to go to Wal-mart).

That's some real conversation for your ass

Ernest Emerson is a cool dude. I got to meet him, shake his hand, and buy one of his hand made knives. I'm sad to say I wish the production knives were of better quality. They have good ergonomics and that's all I have to say about that.

I enjoyed the interview very much. I actually purchased a CQC7 V Prestige after viewing it and ordered a CQC8 that has yet to arrive.

I gotta say though...not terribly impressed with the CQC7 V Prestige. It feels a little cheap and I don't care for how some of the screws protrude so much. My ZT knives for about the same money feel much more solid and well crafted. Maybe I just got a lemon or something, I don't know.

Like I said I really enjoyed the interview and I like to support passionate American knifecrafters like Mr. Emerson. But I don't know if I will be buying any more Emersons. Though I plan to reserve final judgement until after I get my hands on the CQC8.

I enjoyed the video very much, and it was nice to see what Ernie Emerson is like. You get a completely different view of him on video (at least I do) as compared to this forum, because online forums mask one's intent, inflection, humor, etc. People are so different in "real life" than they are on the forums, which is true of me no doubt as well.

I did get a new appreciation for Emerson knives from the video. And though Brother Nutnfancy is a bit of a blowhard, his joie de vivre is a large part of what makes him so much fun to watch.

I like the knives, the video, and the people involved. Good stuff.

You did not get a lemon.
