The Nutnfancy knife reviews on Youtube were my first introduction to the world of knives. I learned a lot from them. Nutnfancy's a bit verbose, but also very enthusiastic.

Now I know a little more about knives, I don't always agree with him. For example, I am glad I choose the Fallkniven A1 as my heavy-duty wood knife instead of the Recon Scout, which Nutnfancy preferred. And I am going to sell some of the assisted opening knives he recommended.

I was wondering what people here think of his reviews. And do you know of other good knife reviewers on YouTube?

Do some research this topic has been widely covered at BF and most people here have feelings of animosity towards nutn. That being said can a mod close this thread down before it turns into flame war?

Like the OP, my intro to knives came from NUTN/CutleryLover. I've since been turned off to Nutn by his sometimes insanity and sound effects. Also, I don't have 30mins to spend listening to him jabber on about geopolitics/history/random other musings. Generally, I watch a review to see how a knife looks/feels and the reviewer thoughts about the knife. Also, I've noticed that often Nutn doesn't really use a knife before reviewing it. This seems contrary to the point in a lot of cases.

There are a number of bladeforums members who do good video reviews. Nutnfancy is a good guy, his videos are more about entertaining and introducing stuff to new people. If you see a newer model that catches your eye it's nice to see it in hand on his channel, wealljuggleknives, etc. Just like all the viewpoints on the forums, you don't have to agree with any of it to still enjoy and maybe learn a little.

I wish he'd condense his reviews. IMO he could say what needs to be said in under 5 minutes.

His personal quirks are obvious, but I don't mind. He's not the weirdest guy on the internet. Not by a long shot.

I watch his videos but take what he says with a grain of salt. I personally think he gets paid off by companies. But besides that, he knows what he likes in knives and bases that off the knife in the video. So his videos are more opinions/rants/speculation than actual reviews on how the knife performs. To his credit, he did make a few videos of him using a knife in the woods and basing the review on that, but that happens few and far between.

There's a YouTube channel called Equip 2 Endure from a Guy named Adam Francis. I find he's pretty good. His videos aren't too long and he gives good info.

i've watched his videos when i first got into the knife hobby, and at first thought oh nice reviews nd very enthusiastic. Now i think he is an ass after seeing videos of him messing with the nice and hardworking ESEE people. He demands attention and is his own worst enemy. Unfortunately he has cult followers who when told to, drink the koolaid......

I enjoy watching knife reviews on YT, and while they all have their different styles, I try to just focus on the facts presented and skip the drivel. Nutnfancy can be pretty informative but he can leave out half of the stuff he says and it would make a better video. That being said, there are quite a few reviewers out there that try to just stick to key points like wealljuggleknives & jdavies (CrimsonTideShooter here on BF), customizers like SoLo, Tuffthumbz, gavkoo also have good ones. At least those are among the ones I enjoy watching and subscribe to.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that guy gives his best, I guess. In most cases I do not agree with stuff he said (only watched a few of his vids as I found them quite annoying). I'd say it is all a matter of personal preference - if you find two knives of pretty much equal quality get the one you like more not the one someone says they like it.
To his credit he gets out there to show people some blades and you can consider it a part of your research, so yeah, he's got his uses.

I won't say I've never been a just a tad irritated at his tendency to digress, but I'd rather sit through ten of his long reviews than one from those guys who just flip a knife in front of the camera and say things like "Awww-Some!! SICK, man! UN-BE-Lievable! This is like, the best folder EVER!!!". I'll take a bit too much unrelated information over zero information any day.

I generally like Nutnfancy. He's prepared and professional in his approach. I definitely don't always agree with his take or appreciate his attitude, but there's usually a lot of useful info in his reviews. He's a good -- usually very good -- source of knife specs, stats and relevant comparisons, but best taken as one of many potential sources for knife purchase decision-making ideas.

Nutnfancy is gets more annoying the more you watch his vids. "NeptuneKnives" web site and you tubereviews are very honest, and very indept, and got under chris reeves skin when he made a youtube video of the sebenza failing. He will say it how it is, even though I don't like how he treats his knives (but it does get the point accross). The knives he sells on his web site he will say the positive and negative of all the knives that he is trying to sell based on his own hands on experience with them.

I fast forward through his digressions on political theory and a world WROL, but find his reviews enthusiastic and comprehensive. My favourite reviewer is Mrdagon007. Seems like my kind of folks, offers some historical perspective on some of the blades he reviews and has little interest in the tactical. Perfect antidote to mall ninjas.

You mean you don't like picking out the knife commentary between the "dewwwds" and "whoooaaa" and the "tactical POUs"? :D

How would one back an idiotic statement like that?? How many are "most"?!!

I like Nutnfancy's videos, and his warrior-nerd-AlphaDog persona. He's enthusiastic, and that attracts the viewer.

Ever notice that his "crew" always has the same persona as Allie the dog? - they are all compliant, beta dogs who are happy for him to lead the pack. They laugh at his jokes and happily follow his commands.

I like the guy, his outlook and worldview, and what he's been able to create with a videocam and a tabletop.

he just rambles on and on. His rat cutlery reviews back in the day really turned me off from him because he spent more time focusing on the model on the website than the knife itself, and the video was about ten minutes.

He needs to realize that he was a fobbit not a ground pounder, and just go out and get laid. Id like to see a well laid nutnfancy review, im sure it would be sharper and to the point.

that aside anyone that forks out the money to review knives on youtube cant be all bad.

I got started collecting knives b/c of nutnfancy, but my opinion of him has changed. He's far too long-winded, seems to have an inflated ego from his popularity, and his mall ninja persona is a bit off putting. I don't care for his philosophy vids either.

Honestly, I like Ankerson.
