"Nutter" Down

Got one this afternoon and put the Queen copperhead and Kershaw shears to work.

I haven't been squirrel hunting in years but decided I'd go this year. The grays didn't cooperate, but had four fox squirrels chasing and carrying on that didn't pay any attention to me. I ended up with three of them.

Hello JB; we aren't in too good a shape these days. Dad died in Decemember, and my wife is having some severe diabetic problems. :( Been doing all my hunting here at home, can't afford to go anywhere else. Today didn't look to be too good a hunting day. It was windy as all get out and I didn't figure I'd see much, but these two never knew what hit them. I guess the wind covered up all the crunching footsteps in the dry leaves.

I've never eaten a squirrel. I have a Ruger MkI with a 7 1/2 inch target barrel.

Great gun.

Phil,

Sorry to hear about your Dad, keep plugging away..that's all you can do. I haven't been hunting in a couple of years, busy with old folks and grand kids.

Which Weaver is that? Looks good on the Kimber.

It's a 2-7x32mm, one of the lesser known models from the 40/44 series. I reset the parallax free distance to 50 yards. It seems to be a real nice scope, and has worked out well for me. If I weren't so stupid sometimes I'd still have the 2-7x33 VXI Leupold on it. I had to go off on a scope experimentation tangent, tried a Burris 2-7x35, a Weaver 3-9x 32AO, a Burris 4.5-14x32AO, Leupold 3-9x33AO and finally back to a 2-7x32. That type has worked best for me on the Kimber 22. I put the Weaver 3-9xAO on the Evanix PCP rifle.

There was nothing out today in the woods. Pretty day, don't know why I saw nothing, but they tweren't there. :o I want some more fried rabbit!
