Nuwai Q-III

Just a quick counter-point on the Nuwai Q-III.

Please don't get me wrong - I very obviously like it enough to have bought one and my review shows I do like it.

The main thing that bothers me is the relatively short runtime of about 1 hour (depending on the CR123 used) and less than about 45 minutes on rechargable R123 (but brighter).

Yes, of course it is amazingly bright for its size -

and if I were "showing off" this would be the light I'd use where people would be surprised at the amount of light coming out of such a small flashlight. But I kind of treat it like my SureFire and Streamlight Scorpion Xenon lights - momentary usage
and to "amaze myself" :o

But in all practical use I probably prefer the beam of the S1801 (1 watt Luxeon 1x CR123) (Review) - although dimmer the S1801 has much wider coverage - and although I have no proof I suspect that its runtime should be noticably longer than the Q3.

If the runtime is in the region of 3 to 4 hours (cynical optimistic view :D) then I would much prefer this less bright LED light over the brighter but shorter running Q3.

Especially considering that one can now purchase the S1801 with battery and holster for about $21.50 (BuyItNow price including shipping and mandatory insurance) from the Goldengadgets.com listing on eBay.

I'm not worried about the low runtime of the Q-III. I also have an Inova X5 and an CMG Infiniti Ultra.

There is a 1w version of the QIII that might suit your tastes better. It has about half the current draw, and less brightness, but the same beam quality.
Nuwai Quantum I, or TM-306X.

Thanks, yes, the Q-I - if it were my only light, probably would suit me better.

But it isn't - I already have the cheaper S1801 (2 now, bought at $26.45, and the 2nd for $21.50 both shipped total prices) 1watt Luxeon 1x CR123 that I'm very pleased with - the shorter length suits me better than the Q-I or Q-III - although the overall body is fatter - it is no fatter than the widest parts of the Q-III/I. I like the wider beam coverage of the S1801 over my Q3 even if the S1801 is dimmer - but in all practical usage it makes almost no difference to me.

So the Q-I although "more suitable" than the Q-III - doesn't add much to what I already have.

For a few dollars more (sounds like a great title for a movie :D) I can have the Q-III with its amazing brightness for size - that's why I got the Q-III over the Q-I.
