NWA Sierra Scout Knife - anyone ....

@HikingMano - thanks sooooo much!!!! That's exactly the kind of feedback i was looking for specifically as regards the convex/concave handle design - love 'em or hate 'em (the concave that is). I'm in the love 'em camp!!!

Glad I could help! You won't regret giving one of Nick's blades a try, and I think his Sierra Scout is a great all arounder. His scout and Tk models with the palm swell handles don't look to be slouches either. I hope TKnife checks into this thread actually. He's an avid user and has used a Sierra Scout for a long time now.

K Williams, do it! :). I don't know if his prices have gone up, so your best bet would probably be to contact him. Last time I checked, it was $250 shipped for Sierra Scout.

Nick's been a bit busy lately and he hasn't been on the forums much, but it seems like he's still very responsive by email. Once he's got some things settled, I'm sure he'll be back online more often.

His sub is directly linked in my sig, btw, for anyone looking for eye candy.

Thanks again HikingMano!

I'm in line with another Custom blademaker here on bladeforums, but when i saw Nick's Sierra Scout and the resemblance to what i had drawn i was thinking i was on to something!!! I'd never seen the Sierra Scout before i started drawing and certainly didn't have a prototype, so i asked the Community about the Sierra Scout and WOW! got some awesome responses to my inquiry.

Other knives may come and go, but this one will never get traded or sold! It's still my favorite and most used knife and the bar that I compare other knives to. From the comfort of the handle to the perfect edge geometry, it's just a rockstar of a knife in use. Mine is also the first of this style that Nick made, so that's pretty cool too.

Great review, Hikingmano!!

fmajor007, someone reminded this knife from NWA sierra scout in Japanese BBS (sorry it's unknown).
Hope you like it as a bigger size with a similar concept.

Ah! There it is, tknife's well loved and nicely aged Sierra Scout :D

Ikuyadas, that's a beauty!

I love my Sierra Scout. For me the whole package is nice but the way the handle melts in your hand, and the excellent balance, is what makes this knife really stand out. I can't wait until Nick gets his subforum rolling again.

I absolutely love the Sierra Scout design...I simply can't bring myself to pay that much for a knife though.
Congrats to those that own one...I am jealous.

It is a great knife, and it is worth every cent. Nick's differential tempering gives his blades a beautiful hamon. I got mine in 07 when Nick did one of the two Blade Forums' Wilderness & Survival Knife designs. The other one was a bushcraft design. Nick's was a BFSK2007 stamped Sierra Scout.

I believe it Bro! It looks like a very well-balanced knife with superb ergo's for field-knife use. I suspect it won't keep up with your mega-chopping Greystoke, but all-in-all a very nice looking knife.

The design i drew up is very, very similar to what NWA has in the Sierra Scout - though i had never seen the knife before. Mr. Breeden and i are working out the details for mine - i am soooo stoked!!!

My guess would be to give him a little time. Nick's been forced to make some personal adjustments lately and I think he's trying to settle down into a new swing of things. I'll look around to see if I have a contact number, but I doubt it'll be useful since he's had to move. TKnife might know of a better way to contact him.

He should still be making; he is due to complete a custom order sometime this month.

Btw, did you use this address: nwaknives@yahoo.com?

I'm in no rush. He can take as long as he wants. I just hope things go as smoothly as possible for him.

I checked through my contacts, and I only have his old email and phone number. ]Best way to contact Nick is through his subforum or through PM. Regardless of his wait, his knives are worth it! I don't think I've heard anyone who was even close to unhappy with his work.

I have owned both the sierra scout and the old blade forums knife from 2007, but didn't have them at the same time. Are the specs any different between the two?
