Looking great. Can't wait to get started on mine. Got the plans and have started shopping for the steel and the motor.

I'm interested in how the attachment you made works. Looks awesome. Lot faster to switch between the attachments I would use the most.

Thanks for sharing,

Charlie

Looks sweet, you're going to make me have to get the plans and work on one myself >_< I cant afford to have anything distract me from my xmass exchange knife right now though !

Good job, I am sure your going to be a happy camper after you fire it up and maybe a bit of fine tuning. Enjoy Jim

You are close.
It looks great. I am really glad to see your swing arm design come out so good.

Does that platen adjust outward so the contact wheels don't stand proud?

yes the platen can be adjusted out, there is just 2 bolts and it will go any where you want. i have it set that low because i still need to put some thick glass on it.

You gonna paint that thing, solid steel surface rusting is one thing, tubular steel rusting is another.

You did a great job any idea how much time you have into this thing?

Any lessoned learned to share with others?

Spencer

Jarod, I just placed my order for the NWGS, and love your mod. I have seen the pics and understand the concept but have you posted the plans for this or could you?
Thanks in advance from a old timer but FNG on this forum.

I agree with JT. This Grinder went together very easily, with the instructions. It is well thought out, I spent a total of 20 hours to get to the point you see in these pics. This was the first fire up, I could not wait. I had to fine tune the wheels and wire in a switch after this. I've since made the tool rest, and the platen is next. I did use a thicker box for the main frame and modified the pillow block mounts for a wider stance.
If you are serious about building a grinder, get a set of these plans, they are also chocked full of information you are going to need concerning where to get everything and all your options.

JT I would be curious about the time it took and how much you have invested if you do not mind sharing the info.

JT, GREAT JOB! I would suggest maybe making the platen from thicker angle iron, you won't regret it. Also, take a quick surface cut on the belt surface with your mill.
