I just re-read everything and noticed something that alarmed me greatly....
I want to offer a friendly warning:
DO NOT loosen the tension on a liner lock bar!!! The security of a liner lock lock directly depends on the force of that liner pushing across the blade tang. Both converging forces must interact to, or beyond a certain ratio in order to cancel out closing pressure. Reducing one of these forces is Russian Roulette.
DICKING WITH A LINER LOCKBAR PRESSURE WILL ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE AN INJURY AT SOME POINT!!!! It's not a matter of "if," but "when" it will happen.
If lock stick or a stiff liner is something one cannot tolerate, it may behoove one to re-evaluate their choice of knives. The priority of "using" a folding knife is how well it STAYS OPEN! Not how easy it is to close. Plenty of other knives out there to admire and fidget with if one has delicate digits. If you use your knives, PLEASE do not do this! You are courting disaster.
No offense meant to the well intentioned poster of this subject (however, I always and freely admit a certain disdain for trends, safe queen mentalities, and general wussiness). Just a reminder of what knives are actually for, and what's at stake when we forget that!!
*Disclaimer*
Before anything is taken personally, any seemingly negative tone in ANY of my posts always reflects my attitude towards an overall general subject (usually recurring one), never as a dig at any specific person. I fully realize everyone is an individual, and that mileage varies.
Be safe!
Thx.
