Howdy All,

I am starting to work with a guy that does Nylon...

And I have some ideas that I want built, and I figure there are some things that you all want built....

So, what do you want? Try to be somewhat practical while dreaming...

Also, what sizes of pouch do you think are standard? In other words, if I had a range of pouches, that could be attached to the front of a thermo-form (kydex or concealex) sheath, what would the 'standard sizes' be? Mint Tin, Paperback, What? Because obviously, I can't offer a custom pouch for every person, but I could offer 3 to 5 standard sizes...

Anyway, this is just kind of the beginning, and we will go from here...

Thank you,
Marion

I'm using a Maxped Barnacle that is near perfect for my needs- 3.5" wide x 4.5" tall X 1.5" thick (I've got it packed so it's a little over 2" thick now)

A smaller pouch would be useful as well- on the order of a mint tin :)

I think an Altoids tin-sized pouch would be nice. Maybe deep enough that an multitool would fit. :)

How about one sized for a smaller Aloksak? It would be nice to have a waterproofed pouch.

offer a pouch about 1" deep x 3" wide x 5" long. Perfect size for a small firekit or PSK

offer a MEDIUM pouch about 2" deep x 4" wide x 6" long

As usual my ideas on this get a little complicated, and would likely cost more to have custom made than I could ever afford... but since you asked I'll throw it out there anyway.

I liked how the old Imperial S-7 sheath had two separate pouches. One longer pouch above one and one shorter one below.... I'd like something like that but both sealed inside one zip up case (brass zipper) similar to a shorter, narrow Janus made to be worn vertical would be good on some knives. Could even put retention bands or patch pockets on the inside of the cover flap flap. Hell the more I think about that I wouldn't mind a slightly larger version...a little longer than a Janus made big enough to keep an RC3 or RC4 sized knife in behind the pouches.

Just some thoughts... I happen to like compartmentalization :)

I think you and I are considering things very similar to one another.... Even though I have no idea about these Imperials and Janus things.....

Scott better not have spilled the beans on what I have him doing for me!!! :D

I'll be blabbing here soon enough!

nylon, as in silnylon?

You should probably be more specific, as there are a thousand different faberics made of nylon.

If he does silnylon though. How about a bilgy tarp tent?!

You caught me, I was not clear enough...

Nylon, like bags, and pouches, and straps, and things like that.

I don't think he would do tents, but maybe a tarp....

I will have to dig up that tarp thread with the reflective weather balloon tarp in it...

That's cool, always glad to hear I'm not the only one having my thoughts. The Imperial S-7 was a "survival" knife made from the blade and handle of the M-7 bayonet. It had a saw on the spine, fine serrations on the partial double edge, heavier serrations on the lower edge at the guard, the cross guard was a slotted screw driver on one side and a philips on the other, and it had a pommel that was a hammer, a nail puller, and a pry bar. It is the knife the original Schrade Extreme Survival fixed blade knife was patterned after. Just google it and you'll see.

The Janus is the extension pouch I bought for my pack. I did a post on it here.

Well, if he works with silnylon, have him look up the bilgy, it seems pretty simple.

I would love a molle back for my RC6 just like the one that RAT has on there website. Any idea what you would charge?

Simple thought, but if you figure out what people are likely to want with their knife, then you'll know how big a pouch to make. Room enough for :sharpening stone, ceramic rod, fire steel, tinder kit,550 cord, matches, etc, etc.

I think, it would be a good idea to have some eyelets at the corners or along the sides, so these pouches could be fastened/lashed to any equipment/bag/belt or kydex/concealex sheaths with open eyelets (such as the ones, you make) utilizing screws or para-cord.

I'd like a simple 3-4" (max) wide molle bandolier. Just enough for a few simple pouches and a blade in kydex. Something to just grab, slip into in a second and go.
