Snappy, sorry about the button, that surprises me, I have heard of several people carrying them for several years without any problems. But I guess there is a bad apple in every bunch occasionally, just sorry it had to be yours.
You really should contact SOG and tell them about this, I just bet they would fix this problem in a jiffy, they may even send you a new sheath, or a nylon, their nylon sheaths seem to made very well. It would not hurt to call and see. It is under warranty so try this and see what happens.

Snappy, sorry, I did not realize where you were located, my next advice is to email them at, warranty@sogknives.com , explain your problem, advise them your location, I am sure they will try to help.
Ancient Mariner, I know they have several nylon sheaths, you need to contact, info@sogknives.com , ask them specifically about the tool or knife you need a sheath for and they will be able to tell you if they have one to fit your needs, hope this helps.
