Hi All!

It's a nice day today(Well...at least first half of it...) as i received my Peter Bauchop WarLock Dagger. It's very nice, stout, well made....finish is good for it's price......BUT I can't get the freggin' knife sharp! I use the Spydie 204 Sharp maker for 1 hour without any results!

I have a few questions here which i hope someone could answer to release me from this agony.

1) Is D2 hard to sharpen? Or did Bauchop harden it to 62-64 Rc?

2) Current and previous owners of Bauchop knives, is the Bauchop knives you own have a very steep cutting edge? Or it is only applied to daggers?

3) How do i sharpen it on my own?

4) Can any maker out there help me to Grind down the cutting edge to a shallower cutting edge for the ease of sharpening? I'll pay for the service and shipping fees.

Yeah...i know some of you folks will say; "I told you so...son!". But I really like the knife and i hate it when it is not sharp.

Please help. Thank you.

After i re-read Rick's comments(Thanks Rick!)in custom knife section on his smaller version of the WarLock; Witch, He mentioned that it's the edge geomentry that makes it that way. I know the dagger is only meant for thrusting but it can't even slice a piece of thick paper(Conqueror type). Would it be possible to grind down the thick cutting edge to a thinner one? Please help or help to console me a bit.....

I've never handled a Warlock before, but I believe it is a hard task to make it hair shaving sharp, since it's a narrow bladed dagger. But I believe it's possible to put a decent edge on it, at least a "paper ripping" one. I'm telling this because I have had this kind of experience before, and the results, without changing the original grind of the knife, vary from: "impossible to make sharp" ( a F-S dagger); "paper slicing" ( Junglee Marco Polo);and "hair shaving" ( Randall #2, 5 inches). Since the Bauchop Warlock must be somewhere close to those knives in terms of blade width and grind, we could guess the possibilities.

Thanks Canis for the input.
Don't get me wrong folks, I don't expect it to be shaving sharp but at least cut a piece of paper....that's all.
