Hi guys - - this has been covered before, but wanted to mention that I hit Wally World this morning and picked me up a Native, which I had read so much about. Given personal experience regarding "you get watch you pay for" I was a little skeptical. Not any more. - - Terrific little knife. Very sharp S30V blade right out of the box. And I really like the finger choil on the blade - I wear XL size gloves and this set-up is very comfortable and controllable for me. Gives you the ability to carry a knife with a little smaller handle that still fits the hand well. (Got an Salt 1, and it would be nice if that had the finger choil too.) - - The one thing that I noticed on this knife is that the finish on the spine is a smidge rougher than my other 5 Spydercos. Like it needed a little more rotary wire brush time (or whatever they use) Is that common with this model ?
All in all, an excellent knife and the best value I've come across personally in a knife. Will be getting more of these for myself and to give away as gifts. Check 'em out if you don't already have one. :) Best regards, - -

Congrats.
Native is a great knife. I use mine for more than two years, great ergos, and excellent steel. This knife can take beating and still perform.
Watch for CF Native4, coming soon (not very soon really, but it is coming).

Thanks for your comments bh49, I appreciate it.
You know how it is when you get a new knife, (even if its a model thats been out there for awhile.) Only a fellow knife knut can appreciate it - - - so you wanna tell someone ! ;) All the best, - -

P.S. - - Hmmm you got me wondering about the Native 4 now.

I picked up a WW native also just this week. I love it and think it's a fantastic knife, especially for the price.

My favorite thing about Spyderco knives is the lack of AO. I HATE ao and will not own any knives with it. just a personal pref and NOT a judgement on it's usefulness or quality.

I'm not a big AO fan either, more motions and slower to open than a regular knife, but I've only tried one model of Buck. (The blade & the steel are great, wish I could trade it in for the same in a manual model.) Congrats on your new Native. - -

Congrats on your new Native.I have the black coated fully serrated version. It's my primary box cutter.Great lil' knife for the money.

I've had mine about two months. Nice little knife. It has a little blade play but not enough to get excited about. There's not many knives you can get with S30V for $40. Nice size too, shouldn't scare the shepple.

AO - I was thinking of 'assisted opening' myself. Type that is legal for non military & police to get. Requires a small motion to open and then a spring mechanism assists.

muddog49 - - gotta agree with you on their terrific value for the dollar. And I like the more sheeple friendly aspect of the design. I can choke up on it using the finger choil & rest my thumb on the top of the spine. Its not a little gentleman's penknife, of course, - but this helps minimize the look of the blade as its being used. So, it's a nice package for a medium sized folder. Regards, - -

Congratulations on your new knife. I think you'll like even more the new Native - full flat grind, CF scales and much more comfortable handles :D

Wish walmarts here had them in stock:confused:

thefly01,
If your Walmart doesn't have them in stock, it is not a problem. You can buy Native on Walmart web site and it will be delivered to your Walmart free of charge or to your home for fee. $40 for great knife. US made.

OK thanks :)

Opps - - I didn't check to see where youre from . Have no idea if actual 'automatic opening' knives (where you push a button and the blade comes out completely by the operation of a spring) is legal in Sweden or not. The automatic blades were outlawed back in the 1950s in the U.S. after the outcry from after the movie "Westside Story" was shown that had featured teen gang members using them against each other. From that point on 'switchblades' were outlawed. The whole thing is rather silly. - - -

Wow, Walmart does have a great price on the Native.

I have been using mine for at least a year and it is going strong. Still razor sharp without having to sharpen it. At that price, with S30V, it is a steal. I may need to pick up a spare.

Enjoy the knife!
