O.k. so it's not a khukuri .....

I remember(or at least I think I do) seeing something similar to that Swiss pioneer model in surplus stores eons ago,maybe when I bought my first knife,an Enfield bayonet which was probably cheaper as it cost $1.25(that I do remember).Nice pix of nice blades.

According to Golden State Arms' World Guns (1958), The Swiss Vetterli and Schmidt Rubin bayonets are similar were selling in 1958 for $4.95 each. The 1842 engineer's sword (see above) was selling for $14, and the khukuries with ivory mounts were going in the mid twenties. But, Authentic (old) Japanese swords and silver mounted yatagans were running at $19-40 depending on condition. There was even a nice matching set of Japanese swords for $75.

Does anyone know where I can barrow a time machine?

The Austrian model 1853 machete in my previous post is the real thing. I am going to post two more pictures of Austrian model 1853 machetes, can you figure out which one is real, and which one is a fake?
