O.T. How many regulars and newbies think Seinfeld is funny?

:D Thanks for the replies fellows. They were what I expected. Just another thing most of us here have in common.:D

Didn't cach much of Red Green last night, but the hour before it came on had a history of the Vikings and Ireland circa the 9th century. I know, now I tell you.

Vikings and goths come on tonight at 8:00 P.M. CDT, on the history channel, if anyone is interested. 2 hour show I believe.

OK Yvsa, here's munk's reaction to Seinfeld. For all the years it was popular, I avoided it. Instinctively I misstrusted the show. The humor was derogatory- not just on the face, which is typical, but underneath there was a pitiful and demeaning world view- sort of- "tear it all down because I (the creators of the show) can't find happiness so you shouldn't either."

One day I watched the show in syndication. For several months afterwards I saw many of them. I learned to laugh at the humor and the program did not scar me for life. This must have been a period of short months. Hvaen't seen it since, don't miss it, when it's on the screen as I flick by I don't stop.

I haven't seen 'friends' either...Ally Mcbeal had to aspire to greatness without me, I'm afraid. I don't watch cop shows..lawyers, DA's, all the stuff so popular on prime time.

But I do like 'Monk": no relation.

I mostly watch the news.

Saw the Goths/Vikings one, and the Mongols/Huns one. All okay, reuses stock footage from the battle scenes with Romans.

The show was a bit sensationaly dramatic, a bit light on the research. They skipped all the cool and innovative stuff, and really concentrate on ruthlessness (well it was called the Barbarians after all).

Worth the watch, intro level stuff in the field.

I might also recommend the Vikings show recently aired on the National Geographic channel (Jan 20, 21?). Good stuff.2hrs

I'm not a fan of Seinfeld or Friends and shows like that. But I do enjoy Star Trek, CSI/CSI Miami, The Handler, With Out a Trace, some of the Law and Order's, and Simpsons. Oh yeah, can't forget Mail Call. That is one cool show.

BTW anyone seen Myth Busters? That show is great too!:)

Gotta admit, I do like Seinfeld. There are some episodes that bug me that I don't watch (chinese restaurant episode), but overall it kills me!!

I also love "Coupling" the English version NOT the american terrible spinoff!!! extremely funny!!!!!

I do like Curb your Enthusiasm, but it took me awhile to like it...

I think I'm in the same mind set as most here. I watch History, Discovery, and Fox News. I also watch movies, and realy miss Monster Vision, with Joe Bob Briggs' insiteful comentary on TNT.

We will not buy cable. If there is one tolerable hour a night (beyond the news -- and that's ??), it's a good night. Some nights are NOT good nights.

Tom, for awhile I liked watching Detectives and forensic science programs, but I'm a little tired of solving murders.

For me, TV is a big ocean where only occasionally a ship is sighted worth boarding. I still miss Bakersfield PD. X Files, and the spin off with Lance Hendrikson. That was a great show.

I watch Brit Hume. American Shooter.

I'm with ya on that one, Heber! My fiance and I watch it every chance we get. Did you catch the one on the other night where they actually pulled that Jamie guy behind an eight man rowing crew! WOW! Being an ex-rower myself I can tell you that those fellas had to be hauling major @ss to get a guy up on skis! Oh, and to stay on topic, I don't really care for sit-coms either...but haven't brought myself to the level where i'll try watching stuff of PBS either;) just my $.02.

Millenium(sp?) that WAS a great show--very dark. I liked that one alot, but toward the end it got watered down a bit IIRC...

Anyone seen The Mothman Prophecies? I really liked that movie and I didn't expect to going into it.

I'm with Uncle Bill on this one. We have Directv with a gazillion channels, but all I ever seem to watch are the old classic movies on TCM and AMC. I am a movie fanatic, and my wife and kids have never figured it out. I think I was born about 50 years too late...

My wife will spend hours watching The Bachelor this or the Bachelorette that, or some other mindless mating BS, which I can't stand for a solid minute. But I can blow the whole day on old John Wayne movies.

Regards,

Svashtar
