O.T. Kimchi for those interested.

..i know how the make that stuff. It's a more colorful process than the kimchee.

A similar dish can be had in Iceland. it it called Hakarl and it is rotted shark. You bury it in the sand, then come back when the ammonia smell is strongest. Then, ya eat it an wash it down with strong drink.

Kimchi...spam....rotted shark....?

Look forward to trying this much talked about "Kimchi", ...one day.
I'll have to go to a big city, as my local stores don't regularly carry oriental goods.

Only heard of spam....

Rotted shark...?....-pass for now.

Ever since my aunts found a shipper that dont charge extra for weight (just size limitation), every couple months they send a box full of spam home to the relatives in PI. Im a pretty strong guy, can pretty much manhandle anything under 300lbs, but it was all I could do to move this spam filled box, with the help of a much smaller delivery guy. So I figure if thats a 3 month supply of spam....:D  :p

Cant eat fish sauce (allergic), but shrimp and crab sauce is a surprisingly nice zing to many dishes. When my mom made crab in coconut milk sauce (theres a filipino name for it that I have no idea how to spell), I was surprised to hear that crab sauce was an ingredient.

Ferrous you wouldnt know how to make balut would ya? :barf:

holy spelling errors batman, edited so that the cape crusader doesnt get mad

mmmm! kimchilicious.
Thanks for sharing the recipe, Yvsa. I just had some kimchi at a Korean restaurant recently, I love the stuff.

Only heard of spam....

This is intolerable! Somebody send the lady a can. Shirley, if you email me an address, I'll do it myself.

BTW, it's not MUCH more palatable than rotted shark.

Thanks for the thought.:)
But no need, If curious enough, maybe now I am!??:D
Can ask husband, "What I'd really like you to buy me is a can of Spam next time you go to the U.S."

Curious looks from spouse becoming par for the course. :D ;)
