We got in @ 4:45 p.m. and filled the car with fuel and then stopped kitty cornered across the road for fuel for us for tonight.
That means the end of my freedom of food again although I did alright considering what I could've eaten.;)
A whole 40 #'s of chicken wings was cooked up Sunday!!!! The dayumed Germans and Pollocks can eat almost as good as us ndns. :p

Trip went well with no immediate car problems although it's going in for wheel alignment before the next trip!!!! Came down with a bit of carpal trouble from holding the wheel to the left to keep it outta the right lane or off the shoulder, damned chug holes anyway!!!!

Mostly just wanted to let y'all know I'm back and everythings okay.:)

Welcome Home Yvsa:D

Glad you trip went well and that you had a good time;)
I missed having you around.
Good to know you will be "here" while Uncle Bill is gone:(

I never noticed things like having the foot on the accelerator for eight hours or holding the wheel when I was 30....I notice them now.

There are few things better than returning home after a long trip. I'm glad your drive was safe.

I'd drive for twenty hours at a stretch, nap for an hour in a roadside park, and start all over again. Now I feel like I've been beaten with a stick if I have to drive for three hours. Glad you're home safe - it's crazy out there!

Yvsa, it's good to know you made it home safely. :)

Welcome back. Glad to see you made it o.k.

When I was first married, we made 5 trips from Savannah, GA to SLC, UT. Took 2 full days, driving nonstop at 70 mph minimum (got up to 100 a few times in Wyoming - those roads are smoooooth). We would leave a 6 AM and arrive at midnight the next night.

Then, we had a kid. Tried it once. Hope I don't ever have to do that again! Believe it or not, we spent 9 days on the road (round-trip) and ended up in Utah in a rental car! Oh, and did I mention this all took place around Christmas Eve?!?

That's a whole nuther thread...

And welcome home. Yep those Krauts an Poles can put it away, the Buffet and Smorgasboard was invented by those folk, I swear!

Pennsylvania:
My Dutch Greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreat Grandfather settled in PA in the 1600's. During the summer, he made pine pitch for the shipping industry, and sold it up at Lake Erie. In the winter, he subsistence hunted deer. One winter, he took 200 head of deer! He hunted with bow and black powder. (Not bad for a paleface, eh?) He made deer jerky for the next summer, used and sold skins and antlers. Grandad Copenhaver had that "When in Rome.." attitude, I think.

PA is full of History.

Welcome back Yvsa.

Pendentive, I spent 9 days in a few hours one Christmas eve visiting my in-laws. ;)

Thanks guys.
We made it home just in time as it rained like the proverbial doubley endowed bovine peeing on a flat rock about an hour after Barb got the car unloaded and continued raining all night long it seemed.
Took a look at the Weather Channel and saw that it was either raining or getting ready to rain along almost our entire route back home.
We are truly blessed.:)

Resting up today, coming back took more outta us than the going up. Must be the results of the squalling brat grandkids that came along with the kids in their own car.
And like most kids when the parents aren't around they're as good as can be.
No wonder kids need Ritilan so much these days with the mixed messages they get from their parents. :barf:

Yeah, I think if parents have no discipline or self governance, their kids sure won't. (not saying this applies to your situation, just got me thinking, and I'm gonna have my first kid in October, so I muse on parenting a bunch now--sobering...)

I think TV or Ritalin is a sore replacement for actual parenting. My parents were poor when I was growing up, so we did little more than walk in the woods, fish&hunt, sled riding, archery. all these cost remarkably little, and the investment that counted was the time they spent with me, not the $.

I damn sure didn't come this far to sit around in a box (room) in a box (house) and watch a box (TV). Gotta get out and get dirty in the biggest room of all!
