Well gang I came out better today than expected. From the old results I had in 2001 and the EKG the Dr. had run in his office I figured I would wake up with bread ties in my chest today when I woke up, if I did, and another recovery time that wasn’t gonna be much fun.

It turns out that the old cardiologist I had, if you can call him that, had misread the old report.
Instead of a 40% blockage I have only a 10% blockage and the 85% blockage I was supposed to have doesn’t even exist.

What I was mistakenly calling an Arterial Fibrillation is instead an Atrial Fibrillation and is indeed dangerous to a point.
Fortunately there are a couple of things that can be done to maybe fix the irregular heartbeat back into a normal rhythm. One is shocking the heart with a mild jolt of electricity and I don’t recall the other, seems that it was two different ways to shock the heart though.
I’ve been filled with so much info the last couple of days I can’t remember it all.
My new Cardiologist put me on a 5 mg dose of Coumadin a day and I see him in a week.

*The Great News is that my back surgery has been Okayed!!!!* :D  The bad news is that I have to wait until the 3rd week of October now to have it.

Anyway things are looking up around here!!!! :D

And *Many Thanks* for all the Smoke and Prayers. I know for sure they didn't hurt a bit!!!!  :D

Good news on several fronts there, Yvsa.

Did the 2nd method method of shocking the heart involve Playboy magazines and car batteries? Maybe I misremember.

 Great news!

I've learned to take Dorothy along as much as possible whenever I have to see the doctor. That way, I have somebody I can ask "what did he say about the whozis?", and she usually can figure out what I mean and remember what he said. Short-term memory is the second thing to go - I forget what was first ;)

Great news:D
I'm glad we finally have some good news around here. We were due;)

Great news Yvsa! Couple things about coumadin though... you will probably have to be weaned off or way down prior to your back surgery, and you aren't supposed to enjoy any alcoholic libations whilst on it. :(

I'd suspected that things would turn out.

I have a similar feeling about your back surgery, Yvsa. I hope that you're not planning on proving me wrong. ;) I still want to see you swinging a khukuri - maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually. (If you'd rather swing a bowie that would be an acceptable substitute.)

Awesome Yvsa! Atrial fibrillation can be converted with drugs or with synchronized shock. If you are going to have a heart problem, AF is one the easiest to manage. The clean arteries are most excellent news.

Glad to hear that your old ticker isn't in need of too serious of maintainance! Sounds like a pretty diagnosis after all.

I'm truly glad all is well, Yvsa.
