Well the forged W2 blade is coming together nicely. I don't think it looks half bad considering its my first since i broke my hand 3 or 4 months ago ;). here is the rundown.

Blade: It is forged W2 with a Claw Quench line (hamon)
Fixtures: Thy are Forged wrought iron and will receive a deep etch
Handle: it is redwood burl that i got from burl source, it is absolutely beautiful.

The tang is threaded to allow taking it apart while i fit everything and do clean up be for etching the fixtures. I am considering putting a spacer between the guard and wood but I'm not sure yet. if i did i would so maybe brass and put some vine file work on it just to spice it up a bit. the guard will be silver soldered to the tang. but right now its just in its rough state and has a little while more to go but i could not stop my self from showing it off.

Man that is absolutely worth showing off! Beautiful knife. I like your idea of a fileworked spacer too, though this is so clean I don't think it needs anything to spice it up. ;) Keep us posted, great work. And congratulations on getting that hand back into action. Well, knifemaking action. :D

Awesome looking knife, Jarod. Great craftsmanship. I'm in the process of forging a blade out of 1084 that will look very similar so yeah.. SWEET!

One more vote for as is! There is an eloquence to leaving a knife like that one. It's kind of like a woman looks better without too much makeup or lipstick!!!!

Man, I hate to play the spoiler, but it looks to me that the handle needs to be dropped down a little bit to more closely follow the line of the blade. It might be the pictures, but I saw the same thing when I looked at it in two of the pics. Just a suggestion. Great piece of wood!

It has a little raise to it but it was planed that way. lets see if i can get a better from the top view for you. i was wanting a raise in the middle of the handle so it would swell into the palm of the hand then drop back down. it is very comfortable.

here is a few pictures to help. but the pictures don't really do it justice. the file work on the pommel looks wonky in the picture but it fine in person. man the wrought pattern on the guard is absolutely amazing it looks like Damascus. the pattern on the pommel is not as impressive as its a finer grain but what you going to do, its kinda the luck of the draw, but its still killer looking. the pommel is actually lower then the spine of the blade but the middle of the handle raises up past it just a bit to fill the hand.
