O1 texture?

I just got a few bars of O1 and both sides are very textured, similar looking to maybe something that was blasted with a really abrasive grit. I this just what it looks like not ground? I've never seen this before. I'm planning on using it to my advantage and leaving a couple knives with the texture, I'm just curious as to what process makes it look like this?

It was likely blasted with steel shot to remove the mill scale rather than being blanchard ground (rough ground) or surface ground (precision size stock).

Is it not precision ground? All of the 01 I've bought has been pg?

What did you pay for it? Most o1 is pg, and I would want to know if you were still paying pg prices
