O_O i sit like this when i saw the sexiest quality after shirogorov

Honestly I wouldnt be concerned with the differences between chinese titanium and 6al4v. Why? Because I dont plan on cutting myself open and doing a subdermal implant with a knife as cool as it would be. With that said the differences wont be noted by anyone using a knife as a knife. And to be completely fair when was the last time ANY knife company disclosed where their titanium comes from?

for what its worth, there are many custom makers that disclose the fact they are using 6al4v titanium as opposed to the TC4 Chinese counterpart. 99% of the time it really doesn't make a difference....like purpledc said, its not like you are going to be doing surgery with it:-) It does however indicate more about the maker and their intentions in my opinion. Someone that opts to save a few bucks going for the lower grade titanium....where else are they saving money? It does make sense for Chinese makers to be using Chinese ti and US makers to be using us ti....

That being said...regarding the OP and the title of the thread... I have held a shirogorov and a stedemon, and there is no comparison in quality...whatsoever...in any universe. The stedemon is nice....but the shirogorov is exceptional in execution in every way. Besides...why pay a Chinese maker to import us steel and then then export the knife?? The end user is now paying more than an American made ZT, or Benchmade for a Chinese import of moderate quality. Just seems silly to me. Retae...they are doing some interesting stuff, with decent materials, at fair prices....I think they have the right idea, and Im eagerly watching their offerings to see what comes of it.

Just signed up for the Bastion pass-around. Curious to see how it compares to some of my Reates at $100-150 more.

I personnaly don't buy chinese knives
I don't trust these new chinese companies to know that:
- their cpm s35v isn't 440a
- their HT is any good
My cousin worked for a large company in China and I heard interesting stories on their 'ethics'

The steel question has been answered 100x.
Call Crucible and bug them again about it and they'll tell you the same. You're just paranoid based on your prejudices, apparently at least partially inspired by your cousin's anecdotes.... >_>

How would you evaluate the HT of a blade on a ZT for example? You still have no clue and are taking their word for it, so again, you just choose to trust American companies and choose to distrust Chinese companies. That's on you.

My Reate Horizon C will go head to head with ANYTHING from ZT. In fact, I'd rank it above most, if not all, of their Elmax offerings...

rival that's not awesome. they get more money - that's smart. why throw money in trash? i don't get your thought. and you should google about global manufacturing. china labour is the cheapest.

i was there. you should go to terapeut. teaches to LIVE. afaik the chinese ht of s35vn kills the one of sebenza any day. just don't chop nails.

but, purpledc i am surprised with 50 buck comparison. you sure did not mess dsm with old version one? the 2015 dsm looks almost like a custom, i mean quality. i even immediately recalled poltergeist knives, though of course not that level. but finish is too close.
