What size would you slice your burl up to set it back and let it dry.
My buddy has some big ones on a tree that we will be cutting up for firewood.
not in no hurry to use it but want to slice the burl but want to leave it big enough to slice out any warps
this has been down about 3 years, and i think i will putwax all over it.

If it has been down for three years its probably pretty dry and will most likely have cracks. I cut about 1 1/2 thick and stack with sticks in between. This is more than enough to work around cracks, surface problems, warpage and all other things that destroy wood.

I am not a big fan of wax since it seals the wood and does not let it dry. When you go to use it warps. I paint with a wood sealer. Slowes the drying but does let moisture excape over time. Its real important to cover the wood do it is not exposed to sun at all. I have a cabnet for small pieces which cut the lose rate alot.
