I'm looking at a small Sebenza. I am very fascinated by the knife after spending months reading reviews on the internet. My problem is I cannot find one locally where I can have the opportunity to hold it. Get a feel for the shape.

I want to hear from people who have or have owned both the small Sebenza without inlays, and also with inlays. I am finding myself leaning towards the micarta Sebenza, but I would like to hear your feedback between the two, with and without.

This will be in my pocket not in a safe or display case. It seems like the micarta would allow for a little more grip.

Thank you,

i find that the plain Ti offers enough grip. the small sebenza is a great knife! i pretty much carry mine everyday.

Got a small plain about 4 months ago . I have several nice knives, but they haven't made it back in my pocket. they do require a break in period ,for the smoothness . In my opinion the small is the perfect edc .After about two months of research ( You Tube and every forum out there ) Got mine from a dealer on ebay had it in 3 days. Everything they say about this knife is true , absolutely love mine. Also bought the wicked edge sharpening system to put a razor sharp mirror edge on it . Beautiful !

Inlay-less lends itself to slimmer edc. Additionally, it's easier to refurbish plain, inlay-less handles should you ever choose to. I carry my small Annual inlay on special occasions, but the plain small is the workhorse. Just my .02.

Professor.

My EDC is a small graphic Sebenza and I have never been disappointed with it. It carries better than a large Sebenza and has always been enough blade for any task.

I think it is personal taste, the micarta inlays give the sebenza a fuller grip in the hand, the plain ones are okay though, i prefer the looks of the plain with the grey sandblasted handles and the blue anodised thumblug and spacer. have a look on youtube plenty of reviews there.

if you have narrowed it down between a plain or a micarta, you will end up happy. there is not a "better" one between those, just slightly different ergonomics and as someone said above the grip is good on the plain. they are both great in wet conditions.

I finally pulled the trigger today on a small plain 21 after finally being able to handle one in person earlier this week. Initially I was surprised at the lightness, but also the intriguing feel of the titanium which leads itself to feeling like high-grit sandpaper (which is actually nice to hold on to). My hands are a bit smaller so I can get a full four finger grip on the knife depending on how I hold it. I say pull the trigger and purchase the knife and if you don't like it, sell it on here.

the micarta gives a delightful grip. you should take notice of the fact that micarta gets grippier when wet. this is not so true for the other inlays. sure, they add a marginal bit to the width, but not the kind of grip bonus of micarta. also, i found that the titanium is less marked when you have inlays (probably the added height to the handle) when you carry it. or at least for me it is.

thats my 2 cents

I appreciate all the feedback. I think I'm going to go with my initial feeling and go with the micarta when the time comes. I'm a big fan of micarta in general.

Thanks for the comments,
