So I think that we should get a list of some of the more obscure, or not well known knife brands. I am interested to see what all of you on the forum can conjure up, so get at it! One that I came across recently that i really like the looks of was Juergen Schanz. Im not sure if they are more popular in other countries, but I'm in the US and had never heard of it until recently. So what other small or obscure knife brands are out there?

Iisakki Järvenpää Iisakki Works ??????? And you from "Scandinavia" ????? Well that does not include Finland, so that explains it. ^____^ Bet they have made more knives than Helle.

New York Knife Company.
Landers, Frary and Clark
Morseth
Masamune
Hueske
Famous once. Take a vote. Who knows anything about them? Even Skagel away from Traditional knives or Bernard's place.

Thus passes the glory of worldly things.

When I was a kid, every cop I knew had a Lakota folder.
Now, you can go a decade on BF and never hear anyone say Lakota.
Thanks for the chance to say it. See you in ten.

Holy Smokes, shanny19! I haven't heard that name in a looooong time. Notice I didn't say it...I'm honoring your ten year mark.
Some great brands being listed.

Katz Knives is a brand you don't hear about often but they make some really nice knives. (a little pricey but nice)

What the heck is a lakota ? I did a quick google search and found pretty much nothing but what little I did find said they made a pretty decent knife back in the day. My favorite somewhat obscure knife brand would have to be EKA they make excellent folders for not alot of money.

LAKOTA made exotic-looking folders. Think Condor but with more angles. They died, but have been sorta reborn on a low-volume/now-and-then basis. And, of course, you know about Condor? No. The other Condor. ^___^

Otter Messer is famous, even if people don't realize it! They make the Mercator "Cat" K55 knife. :)

Klötzli and Pohl Force are a couple of smaller brands that make nice knives. Not sure if the price is justified, though.

Montroc (no longer in business)
G96 (no longer make knives)
EDI (have no idea what happened to them)
Zippo (yes, as in lighters...they used to have knives also..don't know if they still do)
Rekat (not sure if its spelled correctly...no longer in business)

Can't think of any others atm.

"Otter Messer is famous, even if people don't realize it!" Esav, get a good night's sleep. LOL!

Sorta like Zippo being famous, even if people don't realize they are Case knives. ^____^ ["Zippo (yes, as in lighters...they used to have knives also..don't know if they still do)"]

Now, da' Round Eye Knife and Tool, dat's like Lakota. Here today and . . . .
