Obscure Knife Brands

Has anyone else owned a Ruko knife.....got one for 5 bucks and it was great until I jacked up the clip and screws.

Strange story, but I had a guy that worked for me, and his brother worked in the Lakota facility. My guy (he was a friend as well) had too many mouths to feed and was always broke. We made prosthetics and he was the technician and very skilled with his hands. Well he decided to take all of these lakota blanks that his brother sent him and put exotic wood handles on them and custom leather sheaths. I bought about 10 of the knives from him really just trying to help him out. At the time I did not care much for knives and knew nothing of the Lakota brand.

18 years later and 100+ knife purchases later, the Lakota knives are still my favorites. Tough steel that holds an edge, perfect blade design, and of course awesome exotic wood handles =D

"Otter Messer is famous, even if people don't realize it!" Esav, get a good night's sleep. LOL!

Sorta like Zippo being famous, even if people don't realize they are Case knives. ^____^ ["Zippo (yes, as in lighters...they used to have knives also..don't know if they still do)"]

Now, da' Round Eye Knife and Tool, dat's like Lakota. Here today and . . . .

Round Eye Knife and Tool = REKAT? The guys that made the pocket hobbit folder and had that nifty lock?

R Murphy doesn't get enough limelight around here, nor does Helle or Enzo. Alot of the euro brands on Heinnie's should be more well-known too.

You see little about Northwoods Knives, and the Scagel knives they produce, along with their own brand.

About Fox Knives; they are BIG in Italy as that is where they are located. Just beginning to make inroads into America. They have some very nice designs, and great quality.

I'm going to also mention AG Russell Knives, because you don't see them mentioned a lot on here. And there is no doubt that he produces a great knife!

Outdoor Edge. Back in the 90's they made a couple of excellent Tactical Lockback folders, the Field Spear and Pocket Spear.
