Hey, I have not made any knives in a long while (not as much free time anymore) but I've finally got some more together.
These are actually some obsidian blades that I got from another knapper.
for those of you who don't know about obsidian , check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsidian
and this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knapping
Now, let it be known that Obsidian, being a natural "glass" can be very sharp,
but also very brittle. So this is not a type of blade you would want for everyday use (thats what all the quality steel blades listed on this site are for) but should be considered "collectible art pieces" reminescent of the stone age, before man learned the superior properties of iron and steel.
Ok, I have 7 of these knives made and if there is any interest shown, I may be able to get some more together. All the blades are hafted to a whitetail antler handle, using high strength epoxies and artificial sinews. I do not offer a sheath, as you will most likely put this in your display case anyways.
ok #1 is about 8 1/2" with the blade length being 4 1/2"
the blade is of brown "mahogany obsidian" with a highly translucent black section in the middle of it.
#2 is about 8 1/4" with the blade length being 4 3/8"
It is made of a darker Smoke gray obsidian that is very translucent.
price is $79. ea.
first "I'll take it" gets it
