ocd

I'm fairly picky. I've turned down several Chris Reeve knives at the shop. I can spot uneven bevels on 400-700 knives.

I've become less picky through time, but the knife should reflect its pricepoint and value at whatever level for satisfaction. I also believe some people are more corrosion prone than others, as are what seemingly should be identical steels in similar environments showing different levels of stain resistance. D2 has never 'turned into powder' to me, even after cutting water softener salt bags and shoving the folder back into a sweaty pocket for untouched days in a row. Rust never sleeps though and everything is always different. The pitting genies can strike at any time, but they can be chased away by the heady vapors of a Tuff Cloth rag.

I'm not ocd but I thank you that are. I view everything as a user, whether it is a tv, flashlight, toaster oven, or knife. As long as it is functionally good, I'm good.

I feel the ocd types keep the sellers on their toes, making my purchases problem free. An off center blade doesn't bother me but a blade rubbing a liner is unacceptable. The ocders that keep manufactures worried about off center blades, ensure that I don't get one that rubs.

So, thanks.

My thoughts when buying a knife:

Will it stay sharp?
Will it break?
Does it fit my hand?

When owning a knife:
Is it sharp?
Is it broken?
