Oct. Buck of the Month: 301 stockman, S30V steel

Buck just announced their Buck of the Month for 2022. It's a flat-ground, two-blade version with S30V steel, long pulls, brass bolsters and olive drab micarta scales. Only 500 made.

I couldn’t resist, the 301 is a great knife to carry. The 2 blade pattern is sleek and the green micarta and brass looks great together.

I couldn’t resist either! What’s not to like. An American made traditional stockman with premium blade steel, brass bolsters and liners at a price that imho won’t break the bank. I’m hoping it’s as good as it looks when it is in my hands.

Yeah, that's extremely appealing, but I've already blown the knife budget for the year. I hope to see a bunch of pics of these once the Porch members get them in hand.

Brass pins would be a must.
I'm not big on 2 bladed knives; but I think I'd carry/use this...and, as mentioned above, olive micarta and brass is a great combination.
Hope they sell out before I give in to the temptation.

Haha, I kept thinking it looked a little off somehow, but it didn’t register till I saw your comment. That’s it, no pins!

Yeah. If you order a 110 or a 112 from the custom shop you can elect to have pins/rivets installed or not (epoxy only). That said, I don’t think I’ve seen any pics of the scales popped off, and I’ve seen some pretty beat up Bucks.

Good catch. I totally missed it. On last years BOTM 301 the burlap micarta was pinned.

That said, I don’t think I’ve seen any pics of the scales popped off, and I’ve seen some pretty beat up Bucks.

Still gives me a bad impression though, remembering falling out shields on many old and new pocket knives of different manufacturers. Each time I handle my Buck Solitaire I think about the shield "would that fall out one day or not?". It also has pretty strong smell of some kind of glue. I always thought that is coming from a stabilized wood, but now I think maybe it's a shield, because it was glued.
