October 2024 Buck of the Month | 417 Budgie S35VN Cerakoted Blade/Frame/Clip plus Candy Corn Lanyard

That is cool. Just a little guy! I guess the cerakote department has been on overtime.

It's not my thing... But rock on. I'm not a framelock guy. It's like leaving an entire side of the knife bare and throws off the whole symmetry.

Cute, but not for me. I'll save for whatever kitchen knife comes next month.
Perhaps a Thanksgiving themed kitchen knife of the month. A nice bright gold Cerakoted blade with cocobolo handle scales and a big turkey etch on the side of the blade.

It would be a departure from the last 4 November kitchen knives that were each a new pattern with ebony handles.

Perhaps for December a green handled something (Grinch) with a charcoal cerakote handle?

Someone show the Christmas 110s with the red and green handles with the Christmas tree inserts.
Didnt they call them Magician knives since one side was green wood with a red tree and the other side was red wood with green tree?
That harkens back to a time not so long ago, when Buck used durable materials to make art rather than just baking some paint on 'em.

Don't really love it but I was gifted the January botm and decided for some silly reason to get the entire year of 2024 botm. Two more months and I can be done 😆
That's pretty impressive commitment! I'd love to see a photo of the year's collection when you finish in December.

I happen to really like the 417's I have, so this was an easy one for me. It seems like this month is a pretty easy decision for a lot of us here: either easy pass, or easy buy. Not a lot of anguished souls wondering what to do.

Not really my thing unless it comes with a bottle of paint stripper. The coated blade craze is starting to get old.

I wonder how well the orange pad-printed blade markings will hold up. I have a 524 Alumni that the painted Buck logo simply wiped off the aluminum handle. It would have been something if they could have pulled off a colored laser engraving.

I like the look of the Budgie, but I find the blade shape to have limited usefulness. Being all belly, it's not very versatile.

Fun knife, but I'll sit this one out.

I like the Budgie, and it's a good platform for "fun" knives like this. I had the Mango one and eventually sold it, but picked up a g10 one on closeout when they discontinued it.

Not sure if Buck needs to hear this, but you don't have to cerakote all the things.

I have one of these, I'll have to track it down.

Wife got her knife. She loves it. 1st budgie I've purchased. Cool design for it's very small size. Of 500 is pretty cool too.. Considering sending one to my Halloween loving sister...

... "being all belly" ... I thought there was something about that knife I could relate to.😀

Mine also came on Saturday, but I'm just getting around to posting photos. I'm glad to report that the candy corn is inedible; that stuff always gets stuck in my teeth.

In general, I really like the Budgie, and this may be the best one yet. I know Cerakote can be polarizing around here, but I don't mind it on non-traditional patterns. A cerakoted 303 would leave me heartbroken, but a cerakoted 417 just makes me giggle. I mean, look at that! It's so garish! I love it!

Buck Knives Inc. Buck Knives Inc. , one of my daughters was wondering if it'd be technically possible to have the blades a different color on opposite sides? That is, a black blade contrasting the orange scale, and an orange blade on the side of the orange hardware and black frame lock.

I'm very glad that we don't have the option to customize Budgies in the Custom Shop. My heart and wallet probably couldn't handle that kind of fun.

Yes technically it is possible although not something we have tried yet. We hand spray the Cerakote it would just be a matter of taping off half the blade. We have done some very cool things with Cerakote recently.
