October challenge: a coal a day

Yea pretty much... I'm still having trouble with keeping things locked in position(spindle), so I've had a few holes that are slanted but was still able to get a coal.. Just gonna have to work on that more...

Thanks,

It was all I had handy that was dry.. It's from a tree we cut down this summer, in my neighbors yard... I've got some cherry also, but not too sure if that'll work.. Needs a while to dry as its been out in the rain, for the past few days...

Well, it's been 4 days now and I'm batting 500, 2 for 4... I tried using cherry spindles, with cedar and also poplar fireboards but with no luck... I also tried the cherry spindles with maple fireboards with the same results, I got close but just couldn't get the coal...

I'm wondering if possibly the cherry wasn't quite dry yet from all the rain we had up here.. I'll give it another try in a few days to see how it goes, with the cherry spindles....

How's the progress with you RR ??
