Except for this year- always the weekend before the 31st for both, but this year, unbelievably, we in the rural cow counties are celebrating Nevada day the Friday before, but Halloween on the actual Halloween night? I don't get it.
Actually, the Legislature passed the State Constitution and sent the thing to Washington DC over the telegraph by morse code to make the deadline. Believe it or not, but that's what they claim happened.
Then there's another story about one of Nevada's US Senators kicking the bucket in the 50's a day or so before the election in his hotel room at the Mapes and the party keeping him on ice in the bathtub until the election results showed he'd been reelected.
