Hi guys, just finished putting OD micarta scales my OH fireman. The canvas I bought was OD (cost me $10 too :grumpy:) but the micarta came out more greyish than green. It's way better than the plastic but I prefer the blue denim I did on the nomad. I made the scales thinner than the nomad because the OH fireman is really thick as it is and I didn't want to add more. The ergonomics are still greatly improved.

Nice! You're ready to try a layer mod. I tried one once. What a laugh.

Oh boy. A layer mod is where you take the knife completely apart, add layers (of tools) as you see fit, and put it back together. You wind up with a completely unique SAK. The guys at the SOSAK (secret order of the swiss army knife) forum on KF do it all the time.

I tried once. What a laugh. Knife parts flying all over the place.

I was trying to add a pair of pliars to a Vic Huntsman. Then it would have the trifecta of important tools IMO. (Sciscors, saw, pliars) I wasn't successful, but I posted pics of the dustpan full of knife parts, and the SOSAK guys came to my aid (Luke actually). I sent him the parts, and he sent me back a 1 of a kind SAK!
