Odd ad on ebay: Paypal Content

A month or so ago, I put a Jens Anso neck knife up on Ebay. Unbeknownst to me, I put in that Paypal buyers would have to add the fee that Paypal would automatically take from my account. Lo and behold, a day later(after I had several people interested), my listing was pulled.

The trend on ebay is to pad the shipping/handling to cover paypal. But some over do it.

The fact that Ebay is pulling the auction because they don't like the seller's terms is BS. If the seller prices the item out of the market (along with the paypal fee), then the item won't sell.. right .. I know they've got to have their rules, but this one kind of irritates me.

What if you used one of the other payment services and added an extra fee for that service. Would Ebay pull that auction as well?

It is against Paypal's rules to add the Paypal fee to your charges. Ebay owns Paypal and will strickly enforce those rules.

They can't enforce something when a seller says $12.50 S&H and you get it and it only cost $4.50 to ship.... long as they aren't saying that it includes PP fees.
Was a lot of handlin charges obviously  Buyer just has to beware!!
Look at shipping charges immediately.

Of course that is correct. It is only when you state that the buyer has to pay the 3% Paypal fee that the auction will be closed. If you add it to your shipping charge then there is nothing they can do about it. However, if I see someone charging stupid high shipping charges, I don't bid.

I have seen sellers put up knives that would sell for $10.00 at a flea market and have a starting price of .99, with no reserve. They then have a shipping charge of $19.99. They don't care if the knife only sells for .99, because they are making more off the shipping than if they had a buy it now price of $9.99 and a realistic shipping charge.
