Hey everyoneI just bought my first GEC. I ordered a Tidioute #47 Viper in Indian Paintbrush but what it looks like I received definitely isn't the Indian paintbrush. It looks like Autumn Jigged bone or Burnt Sienna jigged bone. When I checked the GEC website though the only one that looked close is the NorthField Un-X-LD. in Burnt Sienna Jigged bone. Would this be some sort of Factory mix up or a special order? I originally was going to send it back but after looking at it I wondered if I didn't have some kind of One Off? Any GEC experts care to chime in? the top one is my picture and the other two are from the web.

Will certainly need a pic to judge color. Does it have a cut northfield swedge or is it still drawn like the rest of the tidioutes?

In the exchange I saw a coffee house acrylic I had no idea they made! Would be nice to know by way of list from GEC to know someone is not getting some frankinknife and let collectors know they exist(if it is in fact an autumn color).

It does look more like a burnt Sienna. You could see if it is possible to return it and get the one you would like unless you end up liking that one. It is a good looking viper though.

You can use any number of hosting websites, like Photobucket. Just copy and paste the IMG code into your post.

Oops! Never mind! Nice looking knife by the way.

Looks like Burnt Sienna to me, not Indian Paintbrush. Good looking (and possibly rare?) knife!

I agree that it looks like Burnt Sienna. It is a beautiful knife and a very nice picture.

Sure looks like autumn gold bone to me. What does the tube's lid say on it?

I'd email Chris Tucker at GEC and include pictures. You'll get an answer.

Sometimes the color varies a lot on the dyed bone. I know I saw a huge spectrum of light to dark colors on the new Chestnut bone Charlows.

Could be a mix-up but also could be just natural color variation. Some bone is more porous and takes in much more dye. If it is a mix-up, congrats, you've probably got a "1 of 1" variation.

I have one of the Indian Paintbrush 47's. Mine still has a bit of yellow poking through, but is very bright red - not dark like yours. I'm OK with it, although I think I like yours better. That's a great variation!

Brandon,
With all of the color variations that they had, there wasn't a bad choice among them.
That being said, It looks like You got a neat "1".
Please keep us posted as to what happens from here.

I will echo what others have said, definitely looks like you got some kind of one-off. I would certainly hang onto it, and possibly contact GEC and see if they can provide some insight.

It's not just the color, but the Indian Paintbrush has the horsecut, variable jigging, while yours is more geometric and even.

Definitely NOT Indian Paintbrush.

That's a fine looking knife - keep it for sure!!
It kind looks like the "copperhead" color on some of the earlier Barlows I had made.

I dunno! They leave the knives unsupervised in the factory overnight and look what happens.
Its a "Tidifield" . Heres my IPB to compare-its not the same but its not the same as the chestnut bone either. Definitely special. I think it looks good.
