Oddball blade steel

I had a K2 in REX-121 and I have a mule in REX-121. I decided to let go of the K2 and got the Spyderco version, now I'm waiting to get a mini-K2 in D3. As far as other oddball/exotic steels, I've been keeping my eye out on something with Vanadis 4E.

Nitrobe-77.

High Nitrogen steel and one of the few steels developed for knife and blade applications. Very corrosion proof and high attainable hardness.

Main drawback: extremely expensive to produce such a pure powdered alloy and requires extremely detailed heat treatment.

Apart from that 14C28N that is actually heat treated correctly. Love it in the customs I own.

Wow, Haze. That REX chopper is a BEAST.

That knife is indeed totally bonkers. :D

This is my FFG mini K2, the blade is a funny colour, it's not your eyes. I had to parkerize the blade as between the humidity here and my acidic nature the blade was rusting up pretty quickly. You can see the cool grain to the D3 really clearly after the blade is treated, it almost looks like wootz. :)
