Oddballs!! Not your usual cutlery!!

Defying the usual norms, a little or a lot, I thought it would be interesting to have a landing place for Cutlery that doesn't quite fall into the commonly seen forms or patterns!

Binney & Smith was an art supplies company, and invented Crayola crayons!! Ulster Knife Co. made this folding pallet knife for them, and put a firm spring in it to render it useful!!
With it, below it, is an elegant, sculptural Ivory (pre-ban) pallet knife with no markings, but which I suspect is Sheffield-made!!

Please post your interesting pieces here!!

Charlie I've got your Binney and Smith's twin with a related letter having to do with that particular deal;

Wow! That's in fine shape, Eric!! Nice to have that letter referencing the "spatula", also!!!
Production couldn't have been too long after 1934!!??

I keep watch for one that resembles the Ivory one in post #1, but so far, no luck!!

I keep ending up with corn knives, but I've never had a corn or bunion

I have treasured this box of HANDY TWINE KNIVES since I acquired it several years ago. These are definitely oddballs, and I have eight new-old-stock examples in the original box: 20240228_214307.jpg

What could be better than that? How about this box that I just bought on that big online auction site:

It is older (no zip code) and contains a full dozen knives, most of which have never been unwrapped! I can't wait for them to arrive! Unfortunately I'll never be able to unwrap them, as I want to preserve them just as they are. Thanks for watching! T-A

Very cool those Corn Knives :cool: Blade is something like a Budding or Grafting blade, not that you'd want to graft corns to other places:eek::D

Wish I'd had one as a kid. I didn't get troubled with corns but I did get verrucae on the feet and that knife would've been just right. As it was I got ointment and told to get cuttin' em with one of these....one slip....o_O

Here is an interesting tool!! It appears to be forged steel, but is not flexible like the pallet knives above; quite rigid actually! Can anyone tell me the purpose of such an Oddball??Palette knife 3.jpg
It is 7" long!
