Odyssey-1 Clip Screws?

Just acquired a Buck Odyssey-1 HCS Model 186FX as part of one of those package deals that includes a Smith's Precision Sharpening Kit. In my opinion, I got the knife for free! However, the clip needs a slight re-bend and I'm having trouble removing the screws. Tried every tool I own - from Sears to Durabuilt to Wiha. Does anyone know the EXACT size driver to use with these screws? Otherwise I'll just drill them out and replace them.

Hey CRF. Mine are attached with Torx head screws, but they are smaller than any Torx bits I have. My smallest is T-15 and they are quite a bit smaller than that. Maybe someone else knows the exact size. Alex

Just tried a Wiha T-6. It is too big, and the T-5 is too small. Here comes the drill!

Just curious CRF, what do you want to do with the clip. I have two, and do not have a problem with either. Do you want it to ride somewhere else than the pocket? By the way, I even tried my jewelers screwdriver set and it still fell between two sizes. Maybe on Monday one of the Buck company people can help you out (even though they usually frown on disassembly). The Buck forum is usually pretty quiet on the weekends. Later, Alex

'bird,

The clip doesn't "clip"! It barely touches the handle. I like clips on my folders so I thought I would remove it, bend it a bit more and re-attach it.

Alrighty then! There's your solution. Both of mine snap back tightly against the handle. send it back to Buck. Thats warrenty work dude. When it comes to that Buck's the best in the biz. You mess with it and it's going to be your problem. Alex

I consider this knife as a "freebie" that was included with the sharpener. I've heard about the great Buck customer service - which is exactly why I won't bother them with this little problem! I'll wait to take advantage of their assistance when there's actually a problem with the KNIFE.

I had the same problem, I just filed down the tip of a nail and it worked fine. Be sure to use locktite when you put the screw back in!

Holger,

The belt clippe fastener is a T6 Torx drive, Wiha calls it #362. Sometimes there just a little bit snug, but it should definitely work.

Thanks, Pete! I'll try it again.

This unpretentious little knife came as a "package" deal with a Smith's Precision Sharpening kit. I was pleasantly surprised! Since I consider this knife to be a "freebie", I'm not too concerned about fixing the clip, etc.
