Ran across an Odyssey 186c (1995) at a flea market this week-end. Super knife at a super price

I have a 1995 catalog and Odyssey's are not listed. The 1999 catalog lists it as
new, "Texured thermoplastic; dated for '99 with metal backbone for added strength". This description fits my Odyssey except for the tang stamp date

This is the non-serrated blade. can any one enlighten me?

The Odysseys weren't produced in 1995. They were introduced in 1998 and the 186 didn't come out 'til 1999. It has a 420hc blade, metal liners and spacer. Retail was $45.00.

The first ones were all ATS34 and didn't have both liners or a metal spacer. All models were upgraded in 1999 with dual liners and metal spacers. The carbon fiber handle was added in 1999 also, as well as the G10 versions which were later discontinued.

P.S. The tang stamp is wierd, unless you are misreading it. The lazy U, open right, is, indeed, the mark for 1995.

Dennis, thanks for the reply, you are right, the card I looked at is a rounded c for "95" I did not notice the "99" mark being a squared C.

Some day I'll learn these marks

It's still a super knife, comfortable to carry in any pocket.
