1. ZT Prybar :D (labeled P-0100 with ascending order of toughess P-0200 etc.)
2. Door jams; tactical deconstruction of aggrivating property; nail breaking; skull bashing; purse snatching; crook catching; idea hatching; and book bashing :D
3. .5 inch thick 10000V tool steel with .25 inch thick kryptonite handle slabs; 12 inches overall
4. Enraged housewives and their need to release stress

6. Legality in some states is questionable; conceilability quite limitied

Thanks for the contest! it was fun regardless of the outcome!

Wow, what an interesting concept.

Hmm... I think it would be neat if ZT produced a high quality backpacking hatchet.

Name: Zero Tolerance Backpacker's Hatchet (ZTBH1)
Uses: Backpacking, light duty splitting, preparing kindling
Materials, Durability Features: Head made of 1018 with a 1095 edge. The head will be made thin so that it has a deep bite into wood. Unlike most production hatchets, ZT's quality control will ensure that these heads are all ground properly, and razor sharp. The handle will be 14" and made of Hickory. It will be a mostly straight handle, similar to a tomahawk handle, not the curvy s-shaped handle on most small hatchet.
The Need this product fills: It would be a hatchet that is small enough to be easy to carry in the pack, but not so small that it's limited in it's use. It will also be of ZT quality. This will be the end all of hatchets... no more arguing over if a Gransfor Bruks or a Snow & Neally is better.
Key value or feature: The key features will be the quality control on the edges and the straighter handle. These are two problems that, imo, plague current production hatchets. It's always hit or miss on the quality control, and the handles are always too curvy and prone to breakage.
Wild card issue: The wild card is the possibilty that Kershaw makes the head out of a super steel like 3V. It would make an amazingly durable hatchet, but it would up the cost significantly.

Thanks for the contest!

Oddly enough I think I'm going to go serious on this one

Name
ZT0600 Crash Axe (Crash Axe based on Strider CR Crash Axe http://www.arizonacustomknives.com/products/?id=5567)

Uses
Door breaching, fire fighting and general mayhem

Materials, Durability features
High Quality Synthetic Handle, S7 Tool Steel bits, Keep the cantilever action, Lose the titanium head to reduce costs (replace with S7 or other durable tool steel). The overall design lends itself to interchangeable bits and bit types so you can have the right tool for the job.

The Need this product fills
To round out the ZT line. A full set of heavy duty tools will be available to Fire Fighters, LEOs and Military personel all in one convenient place. All tools will have a consistent quality across a line. Similar hardware (screws et.) to existing models allow for quick easy field repair and lowering of production costs. Interchangebale hardware and bits will allow the tool to be offered up to multiple government entities for larger contract orders of knives, axes et by making minimal changes. Basically making ZT a onestop shop for stuff you can bet your life on.

Key value or feature
The key feature in a product like this would be the added energy transfer afforded by the cantilever design over a fixed crash axe. Also see number 4.

Wild card issue
Quality crash axes are a novelty in the market, yet there are invaluable to fire fighters and such. It is likely that there is a market for this tool.

The issue the whole argument hinges on is that there is a hole in the ZT line that can be filled by an existing Strider design retooled with less exotic materials to reduce price. Kershaw is already using the Strider name and Strider designs so adding the crash axe would also be a continuation on an already established theme. It seems that all of the pieces are there so it would be a natural fit for Kershaw/ZT.

1) Name: Zero Tolerance Combat/Tactical Pen - ZTP0373

2) Uses: No-holds-barred message writing under extreme circumstances e.g. at any angle, under water, in outer space, at your mother-in-law's house, etc. Selectable end pieces with various shapes for prodding and poking and providing desired stimuli of all types. Useable as a Kuboton with length/weight extensions to improve reach and writing (striking?) force.

3) Materials, durability features: At a minimum, milled aircraft aluminum but preferably Ti to provide a rigid wear-resistant exterior. Lifetime pressurized ink cartridge for writing under extreme environmental conditions. O-ring seals at both ends for protection from the elements.

4) The need: Everyone needs to write. Can be thrown at an assailant prior to drawing and utilizing the Glock or other handgun you're carrying at the time. Item 4 is really an extension of Item 2, Uses...

5) Key value/feature: It's a Pen! The only one you'll ever need! Also an extension of Item 2, Uses...

6) Wild card issues: An excellent prop when used with other aspects of physical comedy for 3-Stooges wannabees and applied to various body orifices. Could be outfitted with non-ink cartridges e.g. tear gas, smoke, pepper spray, laughing gas, stink gas, etc.

Ray :D

1. ZT Field coat and gloves (ZTFC1LBLK/WC (winter camo)/OD/UC (urban camo), ZTFC2NLBLK (and the other colors mentioned save WC) and ZTG1BLK).

2. to be used in cold climates by our troops. they can use the best coat and gloves (gloves specialy tailored for use with the ZT knives) with the best knives (ZT's)

3. heat insulating fabric (not to heavy, not to light) with kevlar/polymer liner (detachable liner. coat still lined with kevlar or other cut resitant/proof material. removable liner for winter weather. the coat will still be protective.) and kevlar elbow patches. all seams triple stitched for durability, including the buttons.

gloves to be lined with kevlar also (nothing new, but still important). very breathable, but sturdy.

4. fills the need of a modern field coat that is more durable than what is used now. also provides the troops with added protection against small arms and knives in hand to hand combat senerios.

5. simple, transportable light armor sytem that the troops can use. they deserve the best, ZT is the best, why not give them the best?

6. price point. simple as that.

this is my OFFICIAL guess for this contest. im sure later that i will just screw around and post something compleatly nutty.

Howz about this: A ZT Multi-tool on steroids! And I'm not talkin bout them sissy things now available. I want a honker! At least 7 or 8 inches closed!

1. ZT Survivor (ZTMT)
2. Being a multi-tool, it would do just about anything! It should have pliers with a cutting edge in them. fold out blade, saw, awl, screwdrivers (phillips and straight), pry bar, and glass breaker, for a start. Finish should be matte black and have a pocket clip and or MOLLE applications.
3. Materials should be very tough - perhaps D2 tool steel. Handle grips of G10 or trac-tec.
4. No one makes a multi-tool that can stand up to even the slightest punishment. This could become the standard of military LBE or police applications.
5. The key feature would be the fact that it's a ZT Survivor! Kershaw's ZT toughness and customer service!
6. The wild card? It's a combination of ZT's toughness and ergonomics in a package that isn't available to anyone now.

Great ideas will come from this contest! Thanks to Thomas and OE!

1. ZT--The new TiPoP--Titaniumally Pracical (and Ornamental) Pen!
2, 3, 4, and 5. It's titanium--hey it's strong. It's also extendable to 12 inches by using the speedsafe equipped thumbstud to extend it-- use as necessary for self defense, or to give a buddy a friendly pat.
The ink must be nitrogen charged, filled with an exclusive color--deep dark turquoise. The tip of the pen is interchangeable, with a writing tip and a titanium Bone Buster, both speedsafe equipped for a scary fast swap. Just press the titanium oxide coated clicker!
When said clicker is pressed--it makes a nice ca-CHINK! from the speedsafe for the pen tips--and you'll scare the @#$! out of any non-cooperating co-worker.
In an emergency, it can be used as a pointer, an orchestral conductor stick, or as an emergency "spoon" for spanking non-behaving children.
Pen body must be Tugsten DLC coated, with silver twill G-10 inlays, and the grip having the rubberized TracTek inserts, and the pen head and clicker must be rainbow titanium oxide finished.
The pocket clip must have a lanyard hole, so that one may customize his pen as he wishes. Possibilities are endless--if you thread a single strand of paracord through the clip--you could easily multiply the usability for long range self defense.
6. Wild card issue--this pen must be available to everyone, no required minimum age--that way if your son is being beat up by the class bully every day at school, your son can show him who is boss with the new TiPoP (pronounced Tie-pop). Get yours today at your local ZT dealer. Usability for professional Law Enforcement and military personnel is endless--take out a perp in style, or make that terrorist proud that he got jabbed by such a colorful (and tactical) pen.

Thanks for the contest! :D

EDIT: noooooooo reholli copied me! I swear I was here first--just took me a while to type out!

I think a "Paramedic's tool" would be cool. You could call it an EMTool

1. Something with a seat belt cutter that can double as a clothes cutter. If a paramedic arrives to a vehicle crash site and needs to cut a victim out of their seatbelt, then needs to cut their jeans from the leg up to access an injury.
2. The tool should include a glass breaker tip, and have a carabiner attachment. I would like to have something like this to carry in my car.
3. The steel should be as stainless as possible, but any quality steel would be sufficient.
4. It would be cool if the cutting edge was a knife blade that was folded into the handle of the tool. This would allow the blade to be used as a seat belt or clothes cutter when closed, or a regular knife blade when open.
5. Optional feature: one or two LED light with push button for signaling

Jeez ya'll write fast! I started my idea at 2:40!

Wild card issue
The wildcard here (actually the issue the whole argument hinges on) is that there is a hole in the ZT line that can be filled by an existing Strider design retooled with less exotic materials to reduce price. Kershaw is already using the Strider name and Strider designs so adding the crash axe would also be a continuation on an already established theme.

Ninja'd by Spiralarchitect! Great idea, SA ... great idea. I think Kershaw should genuinely consider this.

1. ZT Credit Card
2. For everything else, there's ZT Card
3. Kevlar reinforced CF
4. Mo money Mo money
5. No payments until the year 2200
6. Wild card issue-Black DLC coating(gonna need that as much as I'm gonna use it) :D

1. ZT Toothpick
2. Got something HUGE and/or DANGEROUS in your teeth? This is the tool for you.
3. It would have to have a VG10 core, with G10 grips
4. I've always wanted a toothpick that can be used in defensive situations as, can be used as a multi-purpose tool, as well as cleaning your teeth very well. So far, all toothpicks are wood and useless. Ever try to pry a lock open with a wood toothpick?
5. A VG10 core will allow you to sharpen the tip to extreme levels, letting you get into even the smallest gaps in teeth. The G10 handle will ensure no slips, and is resistant to wear.
6. Obviously, for a weapon as intense as this, no person under 18 should be able to use it. There will be a trainer model for people who have never used a high-end toothpick.

ZT Tactical Police Baton, Kraton or G-10 handles, tool steel for that extra head cracking ability. Not that the current crop of police/military batons are bad, but if you built one with the perfection of my ZT 301, it would be like comparing a whiffle ball bat to a Louisville Slugger. Matter of fact, I could probably crack some skulls with my 301 and it wouldn't bat an eye.:)

The Zero Tolerance Blademaker (ZT B-062) Complete Sharpening System

For the connoisseur who has zero tolerance for the consistency and sharpness of their blades, Zero Tolerance presents the Blademaker, the most thorough and complete sharpening system ever made available to the public. At the heart of the system is the three-axis fully adjustable to within one one-thousandth of a degree in tilt, and within ten nanometers in any direction, it allows for the most consistent grind of any blade. It comes with pre-formed mounts for all knives in the Zero Tolerance line, and is pre-programmed to draw them across the sharpening surface following the contours of the blade exactly. The mount is also hand-controllable for the sharpening of any knife not pre-programmed into the system.
In order to sharpen the knives, Zero Tolerance created a belt-grinder system that runs the belt at adjustable speed from 20-145 miles per hour, so that the sharpening intensity can be varied according to the variances in each steel. The full set of sharpening belts come in a unique patented shape for the acquisition of any blade grind. Two inches of each four-inch belt are flat for that simple, yet efficient flat grind, but the other half of the belt curves through an airplane-wing shape, so that any grind: hollow, swedge, saber, and anything else you can think of! The belts vary in grit from 100 grit for blade reprofiling, to one-nanometer sapphire dust for that unrivaled finish at the microscopic level, and 32-belt set will sure sharpen your blade to a level never before seen.
The system not only includes all the equipment necessary to bring your blades to incredible sharpness, but also the ability to fine-tune your technique. A two-part caliper set measures the grind on the steel, to keep both sides of the cutting surface as consistent as possible. The Zero Tolerance system also includes an ultrasonic resonator that images and evaluates the steel of your favorite blades, evaluates strength and hardness, and recommends an exact grind for optimum performance.

For those who have truly Zero Tolerance for the cutting performance of their knives, the Blademaker is a system that has no rivals.

"First we made things that go click then we made things that never do"...just and idea, it'll be awful when I read it again I'm sure :D
