I thought I'd start a thread for Jared's knives, He's just really getting going making slip joints. It's been right at a year and he's really making
some great knives. Couple years ago Jared was telling me he wanted to make slip joints one day. Here we are..

Dogleg Jack with Black canvas and Ivory micarta (small pieces) I asked Jared to leave the micarta rough finished, it looks good, feels better and gets a tacky feel after it's used. Etched blade and
back spring. CPM154 blade steel. Great action, nice thin grinds, sharp and feels great in hand and pocket. It's a dandy! Thanks for making it just like I wanted it buddy...;)

Of the few knives I've seen (never in person) they have a very polished appearance.
He seems very accomplished in a very short period of time.

I have held a handful of his slip joints, and a handful of his fixed blades and sheaths.

All fantastic, and way beyond where anyone that new at knife making has any right to be. It is almost disgusting!

I have held customs from a few other makers, and would take Jared's in a heart beat!

J is also great people! We have gotten together a few times to talk knives. He has done me a couple of favors in knife collecting, before he really knew me!

Thatis a nice piece Baker, congrats. I'm also noticing thqt Jared is sprinting to the top in quality. Glad to see that kind of talent put to good use.

Very nice! I have two of his fixed blades and one more on the way, plus a custom-handled machete we put together in his shop. They are the nicest fixed blades I have ever owned, and I have owned many. And he's been at it for ONE YEAR. All I can say is get what you can while you can, assuming you can at all.

That is one handsome knife Baker:thumbup:
My trusty barlow I was fortunate enough to pick up from Mr. O.

Its a beauty of a user in 01. sweet sweet patina happenin.

Anyone see that Norfolk he just made? I don't think we can call him "just getting started" anymore ;)

Congrats Jason, and great work Jared!

That's one of the better looking knives that I've ever seen. The etched blade looks really good with the unfinished black canvas.

I didn't know you could etch a stainless blade. Asked a well known maker to etch a D2 blade, and was told it wouldn't take a good etching. That CPM154 sure did.

A huge congrats Jared!!!

Ken44, think of T Davidson's etched stainless and all the Stainless Damascus on the market :)

Good job Jared that micarta and spear CPM154 should making for a hard working combo, and handsome to boot!

If I remember correctly, Jared said the etching on that stainless one would likely not be undertaken again. I believe he said he would etch more carbon/tool steel ones though. I think getting an even etch on it might have taken some additional efforts!

The Barlow shipped out a day or so before I made it over to chicken eye and coon finger it!

I have had the pleasure of speaking with Jared a few times via phone and by email. I look forward to his progress as a maker. Jared has that "passion", required to take his slipjoints to the next level and beyond.

Ken, I get the same impression both from the evolution of the images I've seen on the forums as well as the few PM's we've shared.

With good folks like yourself in his corner his chances are greatly enhanced, imho.

Jason, it feels like just yesterday we had that conversation about making knives one day. I'm really glad you like your dogleg. And I am very humbled you started this thread.

I feel like such a small fish in a big sea of amazing knife makers here on this forum. I have learned so much from the gracious folks here, whether they be knife makers or expert collectors, they have helped shape where I hope to go with my knives.

I really am just starting in knife making and have so much to learn. Now I need to get to work so there is something to post in this thread. :)

Here are a couple I finished recently.

Here are a few pics of a Norfolk I just finished. To say these are tricky little knives would be an understatement.

Your knives look great, Jared. That Norfolk is excellent. I can only imagine how difficult that pattern is to make.
