So I have been noticing a bit of complaining about contests and giveaways lately. "It's too hard, I don't want to jump up and down and spin around while watching golden girls reruns" etc....

Who said that a contest was supposed to be easy? It is a competition, Your competing against others for a prize which is often quite nice and in reality requires very little of you in return.

I think that if someone takes the time out of their life and the often times more than generous donation out of their pocketbook to give something back to our little growing community here that they should not be met with criticism of how they choose to give it away. Your not required to play if you do not want to, but please be considerate enough to not pee in the sandbox for the rest of us who might want to play there. The generosity in this forum is amazing so lets all be nice gnomes and keep it that way.

I personally have many more contests lined up, as well as some giveaways that won't actually require you to do anything at all  and will be simply based on your active participation in the forum for that particular month. I am a firm believer in giving back and paying forward, I have learned a tremendous amount of information here over the last year and I have no problem returning the favor in the best way that I can. In fact, next month is going to have 3 giveaways, no contests just free tactical tweener gnome gear.

The floggings will continue until morale improves. :)

I agree.....I actually enjoy the GAWs that have a contest or some sort of participation beyond ''I'm In''.

Gnome? Who ya callin a gnome shorty? LMAO

.....ogre-troll ogre-troll, does whatever ogre-troll does.....

The rules of a giveaway should be completely up to the person who initiates it ..

Bitching about the rules of a free contest in which no one is obligated to participate is like whinning because your ice cream is served cold..

I say "rock on" and do it the way you want..

Agreed. I will not be hosting any random number drawings, I don't see how that increases participation and discussion in the forum.

Agreed. If you don't like the contest, don't enter. It amazes me that having a chance to get something for free is somehow an inconvenience to.

Now, back to the fun!

I think this is something we can all agree on. Especially if it's a prize that is worth something, people should earn it.

Its more fun to have some pictures and discussion involved. Most of the GAW competitions aren't even difficult. Not sure why anyone would seriously complain about a hard one. No need to enter if you don't have the time or motivation to participate.

The prize is almost always commensurate to the level of difficulty. Bladite has hard ones but he's giving out Machaxen for chrisakes.

Thanks boss!
What's the prize though? :D

I couldn't agree mime though! Most people who host a contest in this forum typically give a Beckeraway, and we all know they aren'tthat inexpensive. Even those of us who give our work away, we all know they can be sold for some nice scratch.

Preach on brother skystorm! I'm with you (and the previous 16 posters) on this one!

Well said! None of us should take this wonderful and generous community for granted!

How about this? "Treat others how you yourself want to be treated."

Don't bitch about how someone does a contest. If you are snarking someone, make it clear with a "j/k" somewhere in there. If someone has a chip on their shoulder, take it to PM and work it out. I've noticed a few things here and there around here recently that point to some tense feelings for one reason or another. This is still the best, nicest home on the web...one reason I spend so much time here. Just be cool, and this place will be cool.

Well said Tanner. Sometimes being sarcastic just does'nt translate when typing. Mood and tone sometimes need to be conveyed. Like you said, no need for tense feelings. Just PM each other and work it out. It sucks when I'm reading a thread and then there's like a dozen posts of totally off topic bickering. Hopefully this OP is a wake up call.
