Recently my grindlines have been improving, but I noticed something odd: I'm right handed, but my left handed grind lines have a much better radius on them at the terminations. I've managed to determine what the cause of this is-I'm limited to a bench/pedestral grinder and the left corner of the stone is rounded while the other side is about the way it should be.

I know that results in the stones being off balanced which is both potentially dangerous and harmful to the machine bearings-but I believe wheel dressers are designed to return the stones to a flat surface. I want both sides to be rounded to the same degree instead. Any practical way that can be achieved or am I'm just going to be limited to dressing the wheels and having less of a radious on the grinds ?

I done a quick google search and I'm not really finding anything on evenly breaking in the edges of a grinding stone, so will a belt sander/grinder basically be a necessity for what I want?

As an amateur , I urge you to stop farting around with the bench/pedestal grinder NOW! Any belt grinder/sander you can possibly lay your hands on will be better/safer than that ! Also less nerve-wracking due to noise , vibration ,etc...

A bench grinder is currently the best I can do at this moment. Egally, any way the edges of new stones could be safely rounded?

Just get a wheel dresser and radius it by eye.

There's no need for precision dressing a bench grinder.
