Ive had so many crk's pass thru my hands, that after acquiring a new one, im not even concerned or obssessed with checking the centering like I am WITH OTHER BRANDS...its an after thought to me.

1 'no' vote but that amounts to almost a dozen 'no' votes - poll should reflect number of knives owned/voted to be accurate... :(

The knives are sharpened by hand, but the hollow grind is of course done by machine. All of CRs machining needs to pass strick quality control. There is no way the grind is uneven. I find it hard to believe one would think their blade is off center because of a unbalanced sharpening job.

When properly fitted with bushings, yes, the knife will always be true. But the washers can still wear. You may have to carry the knife for years and exercise its action a million times but it's not impossible for the blade to drift off center. My guess is the previous owner sanded the washers. Even a few 1/10ths of a mm will cause the blade to drift.

I had one that was seriously off-center(touching the non-lock side), so I promptly returned it to the dealer. He wanted it left untouched so he could send it back to CRK and they could see how it got through QC. While I wasn't overjoyed with having to send it back for a replacement, it wasn't the worst thing in the world and it didn't stop me from buying several more:)

The poll should read: Have you recieved a NEW Sebenza that is off centered. Who knows what the previous owner did to it..

Also should have made it a public poll.
Never know when a CRK hater will drop by and vote:p

I feel as if there's some heat generated by this poll. Also there is WAY too many assumptions in this thread. From what I've read, it appears if some individuals have just looked at the comments and posted base off them rather than what I wrote.

I reiterate, the edge was a factory bevel, and there is no marks or evidence that would lead me to think the knife was used for prying.

The washers were not sanded when I disassembled it.

The owner claimed the knife as like new, but also stated that the blade was centered when I now know it's not.

When receiving the knife it also looked like it was never disassembled as the screws had no scratches or deformations. The scales, as the seller described, was in perfect condition.

I don't want any more assumptions or accusations in this thread.

All I want to know is if 1) If you've had an off center sebenza and 2) Why.

Thanks,
Bladenoobie1

EDIT:

Also if anyone would like to know, its off center to the locking side.

I didn't notice any heat.
I, and others have already suggested you send it in. Not sure what else we can suggest to you. Send it in, or don't. Only you can decide that now.

Bladenoobie1, I assume you are referring to the Starbenza I sold you in this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1026233-Victorinox-Workchamp

If so, I described the condition of the knife accurately it my sale post. I never disassembled it. I never used it for prying. I did take the lanyard off as I noted in my sale post but I did that by untying the lanyard since I did not want to disassemble it. The blade appeared centered to me when I sold it. You have stated that you have disassembled and reassembled it several times, I don't know if or to what extent that could affect the blade centering.

Unfortunately I did not take a photo of it with the blade closed but the photos I did take are still available in my sale post.

I was just receiving all sorts of different responses. I just wanted to know if others had similar experiences and why. I already know whether I'll send it in or not, so I'll be closing the thread.
