So I just had a thought. I love knives. I carry 1 knife because I am right handed, but that leaves room for 1 more EDC for my left hand!

What would be some good EDC options for a non-dominant hand? I tried a multitool, and a 2in fixed blade, and a lockback, but nothing seems intuitive.

Oh and btw, hello everyone, just started posting after a few years of intense reading!

Depends on what sort of use you foresee. I would think a small fixed blade on a tether would be best as it requires the least dexterity to draw, and a two hand sheathing isn't a big deal in most cases.
maybe practice doing stuff more with your left hand to get more used to it, even dexterity exercises, like manipulating a coin.

I am assuming you carry with pocket clip in the right pocket (not the wrong one like leftys do ;P ). If I am carrying a clip blade I usually have either a 2-3 layer SAK or slipjoint in either pocket. The sak is great for the tools, but a slipjoint is great too for the small blades, and not just for the utility of a small blade but if you need to cut something when kids are around or soccer moms for that matter.

I carry a small fixed blade on my off side (left), mainly since I carry a firearm on my dominate side (right). I still carry a folder in front right.

Yep firearm on the left being the lefty that I an and a folder on my right. I may switch to a fixed blade though in the near future. That way both arms are armed. :D

I'm right handed and keep my fixed blade on my belt on my strong side, pocket knife in the right pocket, leatherman wave with a pocket clip on the left, and a beater folder in the right back pocket. Nothing has every really felt right for left hand use for me either. I'll typically pull my leatherman out with left hand and it immediately goes into the right hand.

As far as getting an off hand carry to be intuitive, it just takes practice. It's more fun than doing crossword puzzles as far as brain development.

Welcome to posting! Good to have you aboard.

If it's within your budget (about $160, IIRC), check out the Bradford Guardian3, which is a 3.50-inch fixed blade that comes with a horizontal sheath for cross-draw. The guys that have them, love 'em!

Get a knife with wave feature

I will suggest the Cold Steel Tiger Claw folding kerambit. Has a wave opener and the strongest lock in the industry. I'm expecting one tomorrow and will post a review.

I've carried a Rat II on my left side. Just took a bit of practice before I could open and close it easily with my left hand. Before that it was a Delica for a while. Currently carrying a fixed blade to the left side that I can grab with either hand and a small folding knife on the right.

I agree with the other posts so far. It would just take practice to become proficient with opening another knife in your non-dominant hand.

My off-hand carry is a Benchmade 530. It is light and easy to open, and the axis lock has proven the easiest for lefty to safely and reliably close unassisted.

Get a knife with wave feature

I usually carry a Waved Delica in my left rear pocket. Comes out fast and simple if my right hand is busy holding/grabbing/restraining someone/something and if I'm not locked in mortal combat ;) it is a smallish sheeple friendly EDC/task knife that has a great bottle opener built into it.
Funny side note; I asked my wife what she thought of it (she's a very non-martial school teacher sweetheart)- she laughed and said if she didn't know better she would think I was a Trekkie nerd! Perfect! I'd rather be viewed as a nerd than someone prepared to eviscerate an opponent. When the Umnumzaan or Mille comes out of the strong side pocket eyes tend to go wide. Of course the Alox Cadet in the change pocket does most of the sheeple duties:)
