Off on my travels. What knives/ multitools do people like to take?
Have a nice stay! I'm sorry the weather's being so bad these days... It usually is much better.
Bye!
Thanks for the rundown. I walked through Placa del Pi last night and found Roca, though I knew it would be closed and will go back today for the shop and to visit the church. I found Labrador online this morning and will check it out as well. We are headed over to the market anyway. Appreciate the heads up on the owners. We have lots of dudes like that Stateside too.

You did not mention Albacete. Not a store you care for?

Weather is much better today, though the rain and cold were certainly not your fault😏. Thanks again,

Steve

For domestic air travel in the US, I carry a modified Leatherman Micra that I've cut the pen knife blade off of. When going through security screening, I open it fully as shown (the red on in the upper right) and put it in its own small round tray. I try to get the attention of the TSA agent doing the screening and tell them "I'm sending my scissors through. There is no blade on it."

When I'm checking bags, I put an Opinel #9 Inox in my shave kit and retrieve it when I get to my location. It may not be 100% legal in all jurisdictions though so I can't recommend that for international travel.

When I travel, I always have a Leathermen Wave on me, either a ZT 0560BW or a ZT 0301 and as a back up knife in my luggage/bag (incase I break or loose my zt) a Full size Benchmade Griptilian. I also always have a zippo on me ( I don't smoke).

Where in Barcelona are you? I live there!

Barcelona is wonderful. My wife and I took the kids there last spring, and we'll likely make another trip in spring of 2017. I carried my Victorinox Rambler and Opinel no. 8 carbon.

Classic SAK, SOG P60 and a smallish mora style knife 3.75" blade- blank blade, micarta slabs and really looks like a paring knife- kydex sheath stripped down to a blade cover only.

I travel to India and Philippines this way. If questioned, the Mora is my food prep knife for fruits and vegetables. The Classic for personal grooming an dthe SOG for fixing things with the pliers and screwdrivers.

For travel I err to the side of lighter, cheaper, and more likely to be legal... so Swiss Army Knives, Latin Machetes, Moras, and stuff like that are the things I bring.

Cold steel Kudu is perfect travel knife, cuts well and can be sharpened on anything,ICarry either.Kudu,Opinel or SAK.

A Leatherman Wave and a generic SAK style pocket knife. The generic SAK is a give away while in the destination country either as a gift or get out of trouble give away . If a larger knife is needed I purchase an inexpensive one on location. It's amazing how much assistance a small "gift " can be.

My wife and I just returned from a couple weeks in Bali. While preparing for the trip, I decided that I needed a small non-threatening looking knife. Something inexpensive enough that I would not be upset if I lost it. I bought a green Boker Nano specifically for this trip, and while it is a fine knife, it is just not that exciting compared to my usual edc. A few days before the trip I changed my mind. I decided that leaving awesome knives at home when I leave for adventure is not how I want to live my life. I packed my favorite and most expensive knife, a 3" spanto XM-18. I did not have any knife needs that the Nano could not have handled, but it just made me happy having the XM with me.
