How can an otherwise sane individual order a 12" Tramontina one day, a Swamp Rat Chopweiler the next, and, finally, a Busse FF Battle Mistress on the third day. I dunno. Wait, there's someone outside. Oh my god! They're wearing white coats. Aaaagh!

I'll post a review as soon as I'm able to chew through these restraints. :D

wow.. you're getting a little crazy.. did you have to sell any limbs to afford those busse's...:)

HDW,

No, what really makes you crazy is when you realize that you are using the 12" Tram more than those other beauties.... I wore my 12" all day yesterday while planting trees and working on my dam... It killed many a rose bush... As bear-the-dog pointed out, there is a sense of perverse guilt using a $6 knife when you own the good stuff (I'm ready for my Thorazine)... Congrats on the score!

There is a lot of truth to that.

If many would admit it, the 6.00 knife will do it as well as a 400.00 knife, I have used both. However the 6.00 knife is not as PC.;)

Ok, I like the looks of a busse, and have had the pleasure of handling one. They are without a doubt great blades. I just dont get the price tag. There are lots of other knives that I think are just as good, w/o the price tag. I am not knocking anyone who buys one, lord knows Ive spent alot on various gear, and if thats what gets ya, then I say go for it! Just wonderin if there is something I dont know. I like them and will end up with one I know, I was just wondering why the loyal hog following?

BTW nice score bro.... Youre a lucky dog!!

I used to wonder the same thing..then I handled a FBM. It slowly nagged at me that it wasnt mine..and that I couldnt destroy things with it..because it wasnt mine...so I got one. Then I handled a Gamewarden..I bought one the next day. The Gamewarden is one of my personal favorite everyday carry knives.. small yet comfortable, tough, and my .140 is one of the best cutters I own. I have a necker kydex sheath coming in next week...I cant wait.
As far as the one knife concept, that most of us steer away from...the ASH1 is the closest knife to perfect I have ever owned..I prefer the DC model, as it has a bit more heft. I have to admit that the INFI thing was a bit much for me to believe, but I can tell you that it is as tough as BUSSE claims..and it sharpens up very nicely...a great balance. Gene

Yeah I have been wanting one of those game wardens for a while, they look like perfect edc blades......

In a word, INFI. Or more precisely, toughness. A lot can be said about Busse knives, but one thing cannot be denied - they are really, bloody, incredibly tough knives. I don't know of any cheaper knives that are as tough, hold their edge as long and are as easy to sharpen as Busses are. So in that sense it's no wonder that they're not cheap.

There are things that I would change on Busses in general, although those things tend to be common on most American designed knives of this day. For example, the use of choils on even the smallest of 3" blades is really quite aggravating. The Game Warden could be a perfect EDC if it didn't have the large choil and cumbersome guard on it - now it's only great instead of being perfect. I still like the GW, though. And I'm glad to see some of the newer Busse models come out without choils.

Congrats on the new blades! I personally preferred the Cold Steel Outdoorsman and Benchmade folders just before Busse design and INFI discovered my weakness to temptation and cult-like blade followings. I am poor and pretty frugal, so I have traded my way up the INFI chain to the Busse blades I wanted and own today. I have had to cancel more orders than I have completed, but I have been pleased with every piece I have kept. Busse's are tough, near stainless and have an unbeatable warranty.

Nice score HDW! can't wait for your Pictures!
I really like my 18" tram+ DF or RD7 + SS4 or GW for my trio :D
tough, reliable steel goodness.

Thanks for the comments guys. When these blades arrive I plan to spend a lot of time just handling them to decide whether to make one or both of them users. In my mind, to be a user a knife has to feel so good in the hand that you know using it would be a regular activity. Otherwise, I would put the knife away for possible sale later on, or for just admiring it more as an art object than as a tool. Either way, it's a process I enjoy; the never ending search for the perfect field blade.

Cheers, :)

I really like the look of some of their designs too, but I think the bit unaccounted for is a truly superb marketing machine [love it or laugh at it], and a target audience that favours redundancy

Uh, I finally managed to chew through my restraints and promptly bought another chopper; this time it's the Dogfather. I'm sure I was driven to it by all those years of restraint. I think this will be the end of my spree buying. Moneys almost gone.

Now I'll have one each of the three Busse lines. We'll see later which ones turn out to be users. :)

HDW, don't feel bad, I just dropped the hammer on a Chopweiler and a BATAC LE in the last 2 weeks. I want to see what the hype is about.... And I need a chopper... The biggest blade I own is a 5 incher, excepting a few $7 machetes. Good thing is, they hold their value well, and you can turn it around usually for what you have in it, or more.

lol
the dogfather isn't THAT expensive (although it's not 6$) and I think you'll love using it.
I LOVE res-c!
congrats on your scores!
sometimes you just have to splurge and enjoy the finer things in life.
:D
