I do surely wish I had been able to see that collection intact. The photos LT has shown us give a rough idea of the bredth of that collection. I am also glad that so many Schrade knife enthusiasts have gained posession of those knives and are willing to show them to us.
I don't think I have any wall knives (one never knows for sure, do they?), but I have a knife or two from the sample room. One is pristine with nary a mark or scuff. But as nice as it is, it's value greatly diminished when the seller cleaned off the tape, pencil marks, and all of the notes that were on and with it. It's entire reason for existing was erased. Another couple I was lucky enough to get before the seller got happy fingers and "restored" them. Their story is, in part at least, still in tact, they are still presentable within their context.
Those wall knives also had a story with them. And when the panels were stripped, when the knives were cleaned of their identifying marks and seperated from their provenance sheets, a lot of their true value was lost forever. Their context. Where they fit into the scheme of things.
I have found a picture of some knives "on the wall", and here it is along with a single documentation sheet. It is my understanding that each knife was so documented with it's own mugshot and rapsheet. Maybe you'll see one of your knives in this picture.
