Off to the Wilderness Overnight (One pic added, the rest tonight)

Hey, Folks,

Heading back out in the Shining Rock Wilderness again, but going to do an overnighter this time. it's suppsed to be about 50 deg on the ridges tonight, and crystal clear. I'll see if I can;t get some pics of the stars over the mountaintops. We'll be camping up on an open ridge just so we get the best views. :) This won't be anything hardcore...just a relaxing time.

You are one lucky SOB. Have fun and be as careful as possible.
 
Have you been to Linville Gorge? It is one of the most beautiful places in the US. Real wilderness if you head down to the river. The falls are nice also. The road up to and along the gorge was rugged with many washouts, high clearance 4WD country.
 
I'm back.

My dogs were barking loud on the way back, then they went to howling, and finally ended with a long series of pathetic yelps, but it was very cool. We had a great time and some funny sh*te happened while we were out there.

I'll start a new thread that is probably going to be insanely picture heavy.
 
Heading out to a pot luck dinner and will post the pics later this evening. Meanwhile, here's one from atop the Shining Rock itself. The view was spectacular!
