Off topic a little: New rifle build

I've heard that with the standard forward grip it can be a bit hard to get 30 rounders in the Mag well. I've noticed you've upgraded to a magpul. I was just kinda curious what you thought/discovered. In its current form it looks like one heck of a "truck gun" or really a anything carbine. Dang, the more I look at this thread the more I want to acquire an AMD-65. You have good taste.

My buddy that helped build it did his with the tradition front grip and neither of us had any trouble putting a 30round mag in it. I went with the magpul just because I didn't like the feel of the regular front grip much. My plan is to add a light/lazer and burris fast fire when I have the money and make it a bit more of a tactical truck gun, lot easier to hit coyotes in the dark that way.

It shoots good, point of aim at 25yards and minute of pepsi can at 200 yards.

The gun looks great and shoots well, now that's a job well done! Congrats! This is definitely something that looks like it would be fun to do.

Picked up zombie splatter targets today and a few hundred rounds to practice with, gonna shoot with my daughters in the morning.

Fortunately I just have to step out the front door to shoot, its right at 100yards to my backstop from my shop door, and 200 from my front pasture fence to the backstop. If I want to shoot farther I go next door my neighbor has a range set up to 800 yards. I only shoot my single shot buffalo gun at that range though.

Dangit, an 800yd range in his back yard. Now I am gonna have to look into buying some more land. I thought I was doing good with a 600yd range. :p

Shot the ak a bunch, 4 mags fast and that sucker is HOT! lol. Also won a bet with my daughter about who could take 2 shots and put the zombie targets eyes out. HAH! Victory is mine!

Just got back from picking up a Mak 90. While building one looks like fun I have to say it was much easier to go get one that someone else already did the work on. The best part is that I got it from my uncle which will make it that much cooler years down the road.

Nice, does it have the thumbhole stock or a standard one? Its always fun to get one from a relative.

It has the thumb hole stock. Do not know if that makes it more or less desirable? I am just stoked to have it.

It is not that comfortable of a grip. I have already been looking at options. Any ideas?

depending on your length of arm wheather you want a warsaw pact or nato length stock, just make sure its cut for a chinese trunion. I personally like the us palm grips, very comfy. Kvar has good stocks. Unless you want a folder then there are lots of things to change out.

You might also look on ar15.com in the exchange under ak parts. Lots of take off stocks and grips for sale there too.

Got my daughter to video me shooting the ak in the dark, huge fireball

My wife was asleep an was not pleased with us. We saw the new red dawn last night so we told her it was the north koreans. She wasn't laughing lol.

Great video bro. Gonna have to fire mine up tomorrow night. Wife and kids will be out of town so I will only bug the neighbors.
