Off Topic---Gun Question

Looks like moving from Columbus, Ohio to Columbus, Indiana is the best you can do. We're really gun friendly here.

Mike, I feel for ya brother.... move further south... it's gun friendly here :D

FLH, Haven't tried the link yet, but if the bolt is a problem I can always just take the bolt out of my CAR-15 :D

Your right about short barreled full auto, way loud... but for the one or 2 mags I'll run through it I can handle it...

Just to keep the OT gun stuff going, any one have one of the new Beretta carbines chambered in 45 ACP? I have been wanting a carbine in that caliber for a while, but didn't want to settle for a Marlin and Ruger said they have no plans to make one.

Nice AR pistol Raden!

Hammy, don't move to IL, it ain't much better dude.

Hi raden,
That looks like it will be a nice gun to have.I have looked at them from time to time.It will be loud but as you say it will be fine for the amount you may shoot at one time.Besides you wear hearing muffs anyway at a range and if your shooting when you don't have the muffs on it won't matter.I have had 2 14" T/C's and a 10" T/C in .223 and those where loud but lots of fun.
People are now building AK's pistols. You have to start with a reciever that was never a rifle then it can be made as a pistol.
I have one of the Ruger 9mm Carbines.Bought it when they first came out and it shoots reaal well.very accurate and have never had a jam (at least that I remember).
Great thread here with some good input.
Pete

as was mentioned on another thread showing a Busse along with a SBW (short barrel weapon) "Pix Only" I think, you can buy (make) a short barrel/pistol grip shotgun and register it as a pistol as well as long as it was never mounted with a shoulder stock. Kool too

I heard about that one before. It works on paper but it can cause problems if it is ever examined.

Mike, I take it "off topics" are fine as long as they don't get out of control?

Cause problems how? A properly registered AOW is perfectly legal.

Depends on the subject, focus, and volatility. Why do you ask?

I guess I should not have said anything as I know next to nothing about American gun laws. I just know that officials in Canada take gun registery very seriusly and anything out of the ordinary can cause problems.

Just a note to Illinois Hogs. I have a pistol like this one and will be taking it down the the pit when we go shooting. They are a blast to fire and if you never have just come on over and I'll let you run a magazine through.

:D

I'm pretty sure here in NC all you need is a pistol permit to buy one. What is the barrel twist? I know with such a short "pipe" in .223 your velocity suffers greatly. IIRC max effective range on "unfriendlies" is 50yds. I believe I read that in a JP ENT catalogue. On another note isn't it a nice feeling to know you can take you Busse and carve up an upper/lower like it were butter. Carbon or Alum.

I'll bring mine too and something belt-fed
BELT-FED?! HOT DAMMM
I shot a Browning cal.30 belt fed at a Military-LE shoot a few years ago, and shot quite of bit of assault rifles (the real kind as in select-fire intermediate cartridge rifles and carbines, not what's outlawed in 1/2 the states... :grumpy: ) I really like the HK G3 family, but have never gotten my mitts on an AUG
Oh yea, that 12 gauge pistol has to have BATF paperwork along, not something you make at home and try to register as a pistol. Sorry if I was not clear... all on the up-n-up here

well with any luck California will break off and fall into the ocean when the next quake hits... the insane laws california has passed is the fault of the residents.... you elect these morons and you have the power to change your vote

If Cali fell into ccean it would ruin my whole entire day. Especially since I live on a cliff on the ocean. Not all of us are freaks. Well I am but my wife isn't :)

Yeah we vote but we are drastically out numbered by the lefties. I typically go to the polling place just to watch the freak show it is not like a pro gun vote is going to work here unfortunately.

Don't even get me started on the gun grabbers and politicians here in the San Fran Bay area. If I didn't love my job and still feel like I had some things to accomplish in that job I'd move to a more normal part of the country. I am a Georgia boy/ Marine and definitely the proverbial fish out of water here.
