I know this has virtualy nothing to do with knives, but I am at my wit's end on this...I has a AA Mini Maglite and it has decided to stop working. I think I've used it maybe twice. I know the obvious is to just spend the $10 and get a new one, but I am not ready to give up that easily yet! It simply won't turn on. I put a new bulb in it, as well as fresh batteries. It looks like there is some corrosion on the side of the shaft from the old batteries that were in it, and I stuck a piece of steel wool down and tried to clean the contact where the bulb is at. Cleaned a bit of the other corrosion off, too, slapped it all together and it still does nothing. Any ideas?

When I was on the volunteer fire dept. ours had the same problem. We sent them in and they were replaced.

Try and cleaning the contact the screw cap makes.. that's the weak point of a maglite.
You can also see if something else shorcircuits, but you'll need a meter for that. If you have one, check every piece, including batteries. The maglite I had had bad batteries and a bad contact.
